So your favorite news site is under attack and is down again? Or perhaps it's running smoothly despite the constants cyber-attacks, quirky hosting providers or any one of the thousands of things that might go wrong while running a site?

Well, perhaps they were lucky enough to have some skilled IT staff on hand to deal with it and every other peculiarity that might pop up while running a site.

Most, however, aren't that lucky!

You might have noticed that the big giants in social networks and advertising have almost strangled the creative people in the alternative news niche by severely cutting access and revenue streams for these sites.

That's where You & this little Patreon page comes in; I'm working for some small and large news sites as their IT; I develop, operate and maintain these sites so that they can continue to provide you the news you like to read.

Most of the sites really can't afford me or any other skilled IT, so this is your chance to chip in and support me so I can continue to support these sites with the skilled quality work they desperately need without tearing into their by now very weak (if any) margins.

The more support I get, the more sites I can support :-)

Why I'm doing this (or TL;DR)?

I genuinely believe in free speech and that it should never be up to any single group or person to decide what is acceptable to discuss, speak or write.

"Those that only see everything in black and white are missing important grey matter."

Well, I've spent years as among other things a Close Protection Officer in "#shithole" countries with fledgling democracies (or their local version of it) protecting both government diplomats, businessmen, and NGOs. I noticed that while we were losing people to terror attacks by extremists, the one thing that affected me the most personally was the fact that our losses of friends and colleagues were rarely if ever reported by the mainstream media, but regularly and attentively by alternative news sites across the globe.

This personal epiphany left me feeling that they indeed had a significant role to play in keeping people informed about events in far-flung places as well as global events with a different perspective.

As I'm also a 30+ year veteran of the IT industry, I felt that I could do my part in supporting these voices to be heard. And believe me when I say that qualified people are becoming a requirement for this kind of sites, and I've never during my decades-long IT career seen anything like the sheer amount of cyber attacks directed at these sites both by decidedly government-organized or affiliated groups and your average 5M script kiddies.

Everyone's a patriot when everyone around you thinks someone else should "go away and shut the hell up."

Except; I'd rather let everyone have a say, even if I might not agree with them, wouldn't you?
