Hi hello! I'm Dieselhands, and I make webcomics. You may know me from my previous work, RWBYQuest, or my most exciting ongoing work, Streetcrows.
What I Do
My comics are intended to be "played" - I refer to them as 'games' or 'interactive' depending on mood. Your mileage may vary on the "game" terminology, but the basic concept is "a comic that cannot proceed without user input". The comic progresses solely through reader commentary and suggestions, which are gathered in the inbox and used to craft the next comic update. As such, every twist and turn of the story is user-triggered, and the direction of the action is decided by the readers who write in.
This is all very fun, albeit unpredictable. An update typically spans between 8 and 10 pages, though higher page counts often appear. These are usually drawn in few sittings, often just one sitting for ten pages. I do my best to deliver content in a timely, reliable manner, although the schedule is unpredictable. This produces a lot of content in a short amount of time. At time of writing (Sept 1), Streetcrows has 17 individual updates uploaded on the site - but the actual page count is 160. At the same time of writing, RWBYQuest has 0139 updates, but the page count is over 1,000.
My goal is to keep producing large amounts of content and have a fun adventure with everyone!
Why Pledge?
Even though making webcomics is very fun, it isn't very easy to make a living off, and making ends meet can be a struggle. I would love to be able to update reliably, as often as I can. I am currently unable to take a full-time job due to medical reasons, and as such I am not paid full wages. Your patronage will take a big load off my mind and allow me to prioritise the comics while also being able to support myself!
Money may not buy happiness, but it sure does buy comfort and a sense of security in the face of uncertain futures. ;)
In addition to helping me prioritize my comic work, patron money will also go to the things that help keep my comics running online; domain hosting, etc. In the future, I hope to set up an email system, as well, to have an easier, more private way to contact me. Of course, there are also the potential unforeseen costs in case physical drawing equipment breaks down; as seen once during the RWBYQuest run, my tablet unexpectedly broke down and I had to buy a new one on the spot with the money I had saved. Having backup money from patreon would relieve this stress immensely, and ensure that my content will keep running smoothly!
The reward content comes out rather sporadically, especially since I am a little on my toes regarding Patreon's poor VATMOSS handling. Please understand! I will post when I have content and am feeling safer.
Every bit helps! Thank you!
