About Digital Hammurabi
Ancient History is for EVERYONEUnfortunately, it can be surprisingly difficult to access accurate, interesting information about the ancient world without spending years (and a LOT of money!) in school or university. Here at Digital Hammurabi, we bring academic scholarship to public forums, through YouTube and our new podcast, so that anyone with an internet connection can learn about the ancient world. Patron members like you help us choose video topics, and provide vital funding for our exciting new animated Digital Hammurabi Kids channel coming early 2020! If you join our top tier of $50 then you will even be featured, in animated form, in one of our DH Kids videos.
We cover the history, languages, and cultures of the Ancient Near East - that is, Mesopotamia, Egypt, and the Levant, from the 4th through to the 1st millennium BCE. On our Youtube channel you can find pre-recorded videos (previous topics include Mesopotamian mythology, Sumerian language classes, and textual criticism of the Hebrew Bible), or join us for a livestream and hear an academic expert talk about their research and ask your own questions.
Digital Hammurabi is run by Megan Lewis and Dr. Joshua Bowen. We're both Assyriologists (that is, we study Ancient Mesopotamia) with a passion for communication, and we're excited to share our hard-earned knowledge with people who have better things to do with their lives than spend it in education!
