Discard Studies has been publishing since 2010, creating an online hub for scholars, activists, environmentalists, students, artists, planners, and others who are asking questions about waste, not just as an ecological problem, but as a process, judgment, infrastructural and economic challenge, and as a site for producing and contesting power. We produce and host: monthly research-based articles on discard studies; a monthly report called The Dirt on recent articles, jobs, and calls for participation relevant to discard studies; a repository of definitions, bibliographies, and syllabi as resources; and editorial support for guest authors.

Your support allows Discard Studies to run! So far, we've supported the blog from our own pockets. Your support helps fund:

- webspace and server fees (our cost: $150/yr)

- a small stipend for the graduate student editor (our cost: $3792/yr)

- incidental costs, such as logo creation, mail outs of books to reviewers, hard drives for storage (our cost: $0-800/yr)

- our dream to pay guest authors a stipend ($100-200/article)! Right now guest authors work for free. :(

Goals
$30 of $253 per month
When we reach $265.50/month, the graduate student editor eats, pays rent, and buys shoes on a stable salary! At the moment, we pay the graduate student editor in a piecemeal fashion ($15/hour, 4 hours/week), and the funding is not guaranteed. The other editors have salaries as professors, but the graduate student does not.
