David Erick Ramos
About
With a collection of over 100 ocarinas from the last 150 years, David has toured the country educating the public on the history and development of the ocarina, as well as teaching his ocarina students how to make the most of their flutes and music education.
David initiated the first major US Ocarina Gathering in 2009, held in Seattle, WA, which was sponsored by Songbird Ocarinas and SMule Inc. He also represented the United States when he attended the 2011 International Ocarina Festival in Budrio, Italy.
In 2012 and 2013, David partnered with JMP Productions and Nintendo of America to present a series of ocarina workshops in New York City as part of a promotion for the traveling concert tour, "The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses". At one of those workshops, David performed with video game ensemble "Videri String Quartet" for an audience of over 200 people.
In 2013, David successfully raised over $23,000 via crowdfunding for his debut studio album, "Leave Luck to Heaven", with 10 of the songs being original compositions. This past year, he toured the United States to promote the album and is currently working on a second album with music inspired by his 2014 tour.
David is also developing a signature model ocarina in partnership with Songbird Ocarina, the largest Ocarina manufacturer in the United States, due out in 2015.

Marie-Gabrielle Estay 'Play exactly what's written on the staff'? My ears still ache because of that F in Mary Had a Little Lamb! :p Still, what I like in you videos, is that even when I know the things you teach, I somehow find in it something to Learn or some help to improve my practice.

David Erick Ramos Lol, yes, I realized the mistake with the F after I had posted the video! I try to squeeze in a few things even for the more experienced musicians, so I'm glad it's helpful to you :)

Marie-Gabrielle Estay I Wish there was a video like this a couple of years ago, when I held my ocarina for the first time and wondered why there was 13 holes on a 12 holes ocarina. Ahem...

Matthew Leech It would be really helpful to have more videos like this, and maybe sheet music in the end to copy down.

Andrew Leeder I'd enjoy those lessons too. Though I started my ocarina practice only around 2 weeks ago and I'm watching David's videos several times each to feel competent at reading and playing the music. So probably learn double is a little while away for me

Aaron Matthews I just signed up and am enjoying this immensly. Love my new Ocarina as well. What cadence are these videos released in? Is it per week? Thanks for doing this!

Andrew Leeder It is weekly, however there seems to be a hiatus at the moment as David went to Italy for the budrio ocarina festival
