Here's some more backstory.

I'm based in Melbourne, Australia, and my productions have been used in releases with artists, in indie films, and in games all over the world.

The whole thing is pretty trippy. I can still clearly recall where I was when I heard the first track a rap artist I'd never met had done with one of my beats - on the toilet in a house I shared with a friend in Perth. I almost fell off. It felt like I had climbed a mountain that I never expected to even see.

Since then I've:
  • released a double EP and full length instrumental albums on different labels
  • had beats featured on digital albums, mixtapes, vinyl, remixes, and collaborations with artists from Vienna to Venice Beach
  • toured Australia and the USA, played in warehouse spaces in Brooklyn, pubs in Collingwood, house parties in Portland, and forest raves in WA (they paid me in LSD; it was a good day)
  • done production for rappers like GDP, Armand Hammer (Elucid + billy woods), released vinyl in Europe with Mr DNA, and
  • had a tune of mine in an independent gay adventure game (Escape From Pleasure Planet, check it out on steam!).

And it's still a crazy buzz. I'm just a dude with a computer and a synth or two, making music whenever I can, in the gaps between family, work, and life. I didn't expect to do these things. It's.. trippy.

I feel very flattered and lucky to even be in the position where I can use my time and creative energy to make new art with other artists and also engage people with new material. So .. thank you. I really appreciate the opportunity to do this!

I'm on Patreon because I want to try a different way to distribute and release my music.

If you look at my accounts over at places like Soundcloud or Bandcamp, the releases are quite sporadic. It looks like I take ages to put together a release (because good art sometimes takes time, especially when there's more than 1 person involved), but the reality is that a release can come together quite quickly these days.

My latest LP, ONE, was written in an ~8 week period, mostly on the train on the way to work.
It's by far my most cohesive and best work, which is great. But it took ages for it to see the light of day.

There's lots of material still 'in the works' with artists all over the place. There are about 4 irons in the fire right now at different stages.

I'm a lounge-room-studio independent musician in 2017 - it shouldn't take me years to release music that takes me hours to write. These aren't concertos. This is the god damn internet we're talking about here.

The big downside to my current release process is that my fans (you guys!) don't get to hear most of the music.

Once I email over some files, I lose control over what the process is from that point. And that's hard to deal with, I really struggle with it, probably because of my enormous ego. But I write music so that I can connect with the world and the people in and around it. If the music is stuck on a hard drive or in an inbox, that doesn't happen.

So here's a recap:

  1. I make a lot of music, all the time
  2. It's good enough for artists to want to use it and people tell me it's good
  3. My supporters are lucky to hear something less than 2 years old, once a year
  4. Damn

Time to try something else!

I want to connect directly with my listeners, and give them my quality product for a reasonable price, and be more self-sufficient.

I want to expand my audience and my collaboration potential by getting my beats out to as many people as possible. And I'd also love to just make beats and support my family.

These are possible things on Patreon!

Patrons here at Patreon will receive pretty much my entire output as it happens, in monthly batches of at least 2 beats. Over the course of the year, that'll mean at least 24 nuggets. Over four years and a month that'll be more than 100 nuggets.

UPDATE: after volume 4 of the ULTRA TEAM dropped in November 2017, we're up to 21 tracks. For a cost to you of $1 per month.

DOWNLOAD THE FREE SAMPLER PACK HERE!

The first support tier is $1/month. The ULTRA TEAM tier gives you:

  • Access to the monthly beat pack with at least 2 heavy rhythms to write and rhyme to, blast on the car stereo, and just generally be cool people with.
  • DRM-free 320kbps MP3 format, emailed straight to you.
  • LIMITED EDITION DOS4GW sticker!
  • You support me and I love you for that. I probably love you anyway already but whatever, love isn't a measurable commodity

Next, we're getting serious. $6/m gets you the ULTRA TEAM ARTIST tier:

  • Everything in the $1 tier.
  • ~ -4db 24 bit, 44khz wave versions of each of the monthly beats.
  • A licence to use ULTRA TEAM beats on free releases.
  • I will buy you a beer if I see you.

The ULTRA TEAM PRO $12/m tier is an adult and makes its own decisions.

  • Everything in the $1 and $6 tiers.
  • STEMS for every beat.
  • A licence to use ULTRA TEAM beats on paid releases.
  • You support the heck out of me and you're a good person for doing that.

It's really important that I set out how licencing works with any tracks made using beats from my Patreon. So buckle up for some legal shit.

  • These licences are all non-exclusive.
  • I retain 100% ownership of every track published by me on Patreon.
  • If you make tracks with the ULTRA TEAM beats and they generate revenue through sales, sync/placements, royalties and any other for-profit activity, as the producer and composer I'm entitled to 50% of total revenue.
  • If published, every song made with ULTRA TEAM beats will feature a top line production credit e.g. ARTIST NAME - TRACK NAME prod. DOS4GW or ARTIST NAME - TRACK NAME featuring DOS4GW ... but also just hit me if you have an alternate suggestion!
  • I provide stems to assist with arrangements, recording and mixdowns. However I'm ok if you want to remix the beats, just make sure I am credited as the original artist. The other rules about revenue all apply.

Basically, if you land a Sprite advert using one of my tracks as backing (hi Sprite), I want my cut just like any other producer would.

I think these conditions are fair and reasonable. If you don't, don't back me! It's that simple.

That about wraps it up, people. Thanks for reading this far, I have a tendency to ramble but I thought this was all pretty important information. Believe me, you should have seen the previous 17 versions.

I feel like we've had a good talk. I'd be crazy grateful if you supported me in this. I love you all very deeply.

h. xx
