Come work with me, with access to exclusive Working in the Workshop content. Let's get down to work!

  • All the Workmate perks.
  • Extra Working in the Workshop videos, updated regularly. See how I work in the workshop.
  • Parts list in advance - know what parts you'll need before the video and article are released.

And if you don't want to build a Robot that's OK. I still want to teach you:

  • How to work with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other amazing devices.
  • How to program and wire up your own creations, even if all of this is new to you.
  • All you need to know about sensors, motors, displays and so much more.

Welcome to the Workshop!

Welcome to the DroneBot Workshop. My name is Bill and I have a YouTube Channel and a Website and where I teach people just like you how to work with microcontrollers, sensors, and other electronics. I also have also created a community of electronics enthusiasts on the DroneBot Workshop Forum.

Showing you how to wire up and program dozens of useful devices is just the beginning - I'll also teach you HOW these tiny wonders work. I use animated explainers, code walkthroughs, and workbench experiments to bring you up to speed.

Every video that I create has an accompanying article on the DroneBot Workshop website, complete with diagrams and downloadable code samples. So you can follow along at your own pace.

My Workshop is where I hold my classes and build my stuff. And I want you to join me!

Periodically I create videos, along with matching articles on my website. You'll see me cover a new subject that will teach you more about working with technology so that you can build your own unique creations.

It would be wonderful if you'd join me in my workshop!

I create and finance all of the articles, videos, and projects by myself. If you could assist me in the workshop it would be really helpful and it would allow me to continue to create the best content I possibly can for you.

  • Become a Friend of the Workshop and help me keep the lights on.
  • Give me a hand and sign up as a Workmate. You'll get advanced notice about what content I'm working on.
  • Be my Apprentice. In addition to the Workmate benefits, you'll get access to exclusive Working in the Workshop videos. Raw, minimally edited, video of me designing and building projects in the workshop.
  • I'm looking for a Robotics Engineer. Serious robot builders. If that's you then join me for complete access to all DB1 documentation, as well as exclusive video and notes from the construction and testing of DB1. Of course, you'll also have access to all of the Apprentice and Workmate perks.

My content is for people of all skill levels, and you won't need a ton of specialized equipment or expensive parts to follow along. Whether it's a hobby, a career, or just a curiosity there has never been a better time to enjoy working with electronics.

It's amazing what you can do with a handful of inexpensive components. And nothing matches the feeling of accomplishment you'll obtain from designing and building your own unique devices.

And it's fun too! Please join me on the YouTube Channel, on the Website, and on the Forum.  It would be great to see you there!

And during the week I keep busy building a special project...

I'm building a Robot. A REAL Robot.

  • Not a toy-sized "robot car". A full-sized and powerful robot.
  • Not a simple collision avoider (although I build those too). A highly-capable robot with multiple microcontrollers and microcomputers and dozens of sensors.
  • A robot that you can teach new skills. And that can learn on its own as well, using advanced AI techniques and machine intelligence.
  • A robot that can be expanded to become whatever you want it to be. A robot that you can customize for your own specific needs.

A REAL Robot!

Meet DB1, my (soon to be) REAL Robot!

DB1 is an experimenters robot that isn't holding back any features. Multiple microcontrollers and microcomputers fused with dozens of sensors and advanced features like LiDAR, Voice and Image recognition and Machine Learning.

It's a REAL Robot - a robot that I'm building right now, and that you can build too.

It's an ambitious project and I'd love for you to join me in helping make it a reality.

DB1 is designed and built with YOU in mind, that is if you are the type of person that wants to build your own robot or automated platform.

  • DB1 is built using standard, easily available parts. No more modified vacuum cleaners or souped-up Segways. You can get the parts for DB1 from many different sources, including Servocity, Amazon, and eBay or your local electronics store (if you have one of course).
  • DB1 can be configured YOUR way. Want to build an automated wagon to help you with your yard work? Fancy an intelligent automated drink dispenser for your next big party? Or just want to learn about working with the rapidly expanding field of robotics?  The DB1 design can be reconfigured to be whatever you want it to be.
  • You can build all of DB1 - or just part of it. The DB1 design is divided into three main sections or layers. - the Navigation Layer, the Intelligence Layer, and the Environment Layer.  Build it all, or just use part of it in your own unique design,
  • I'm sharing EVERYTHING with you. I'm making my design and code for DB1 all Open Source. So you can feel free to copy it and modify it for anything you'd like.

You can catch up with all of the DB1 videos here, and all of the articles here. And I'll be updating them as the robot progresses. You can watch it evolve "as it happens".

My Mission

I've always wanted to teach and my YouTube Channel, my Website and Forum have helped turn that dream into reality.  It's taken a lot of money and effort but the feedback I've received from my subscribers, viewers, and readers has made it more than worthwhile.

If I can teach you something new then I consider it time well spent.

I'd like to keep teaching, growing my YouTube channel, my website, and the forum and (eventually) start creating books and kits.  I have several decades of experience and a genuine love for teaching technology to anyone who is interested in learning.

If that someone is you then please consider supporting my efforts. Any level of support is very much appreciated.

Any and all Patreon proceeds will go into parts and equipment for the workshop and for the robot.  This will help me to continue to bring you exciting and useful new content.

And even if you can't afford to support me on Patreon I hope you will benefit from my YouTube videos and articles on my website. They will always be free to enjoy, and if you find them useful then that's payment enough.  And I invite you to be part of the community on the DroneBot Workshop Forum. We have some great people there who are waiting to chat with you!

Welcome to the Workshop!
