Halo, Sci-fi Games and Entertainment!

Welcome to Dude Gamer Podcasts!  How do I begin?

I'm Dude.  The host of Dude Gamer Podcasts.  This is a podcast show for fans of Halo, Sci-fi Games and Entertainment!  Pretty straight forward.  You can call me 'Dude' as well if you like.  "Dude" is a nickname I acquired in college.  I didn't know anyone's name on the first day of classes so I began calling everyone I met 'Dude' at the university classrooms.  I was saying, "Hey Dude!",  "What's up Dude!",  "How's it hanging today Dude?" and the like.  The name stuck to me til this day and close friends don't let me forget it.  The name continued to follow me through the years and I've become used to it, and even like it to some extent.  I never felt weird having a nick name anyway as I've had one or another throughout my life.  If someone gives you a nick name, they either really like you or they really don't like you.  I find the nick name 'Dude' to lean somewhat towards to the like category so that makes me feel good.

When I was younger I enjoyed drawing, making artwork, building models, and playing games on consoles and old personal computers. I didn't belong in any traditional group in high school, so I guess I was a total geek or nerd but definitely not a social outcast. Yes I am a nerd, but I have a few good friends at least. So back in 2008 I had a great idea to put out a podcast about my interests and share my feelings on these subjects as well to inform the public about current events concerning Halo, Sci-fi Games and Entertainment.

I began creating Dude Gamer Podcasts as a creative outlet.  I thought why not use my nick name in the title for the show since I identified with it in a positive way.  I love talking about games, tech, movies, some books, especially the sci-fi ones as well as my all time favorite video game Halo!  Halo Combat Evolved on the Xbox console was a smash hit, and I followed the game with great enthusiasm throughout the years which spurred interest in the video game industry and nerd culture.  The eyeballs of friends would sometimes glaze over as I rambled on about the video game industry or certain games in particular, but some of my fellow nerds expressed sincere interest so I knew there was an audience out there for a podcast show that I could share.

I am very passionate about video games and Halo in particular so I try and publish at least a one hour show every week.  I have sometimes fell a bit short of that mark trying to make time to be creative around work, family, and travel, but I do my best.  Halo, Games and Science Fiction really get me excited, and I'm here to share my excitement with the world through the podcast.  I know many of you enjoy listening to the show as much as I enjoy creating it!  So as always, thank you for listening and your support!  I have really enjoyed your feed back throughout the years.

What does this Patreon cover?

The Show!

Dude Gamer Podcasts are anywhere between 1 to 2 hours in length and are available at Dude Gamer dot com, iTunesGoogle Play, or Stitcher Radio.  I strive to get an hour show published almost every week depending of life constraints, but I do make them a priority.

The show contains tons of high quality Halo, Sci-fi, and Video Game goodness with content that is up to date and informative for those craving the latest news, opinion, and humor.  Sometimes a guest is featured on the show, but rarely.  The show mascot is a humanoid  Dremora who is aligned with the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon.  Although the Dremora is very intelligent he is critical and sometimes hostile towards me as I record the show.  We do enjoy each others company despite this.

I don't make a living off of the podcast, but bandwidth and hosting is expensive. With an increasing listener base I am unable to expand the show.  During the last part of January 2018 I actually ran out of bandwidth due to so many downloads.  The show was actually off the air for almost 2 weeks.  Can you believe that?  That was a first!  The show will be back on the web February 1st 2018 when my hosting account rolls over.  To prevent further interruptions in the future I'm looking at increasing from a large bandwidth plan with 100GB traffic to a 200GB traffic plan which would really help the show stay on the web. I am also planning on eventually making the show available to other podcast outlets as some of these cost money (ie. Sound Cloud, iHeart Radio).

Right now I do have advertising with Audible.com, but am planing to remove it as the Patreon moves forward.  Eventually I would like to make the show completely ad free, but for now I will make sure to mention the Patreon at the beginning of the show and towards the second half...that only makes sense I guess.

Anything Else?

In closing, I would like to thank you for listening to the show and for your feed back good or bad.  I enjoy it all and take it in stride.  I'm constantly trying to improve the show and appreciate any suggestions you might have.  If you have suggestions please send emails to [email protected].  Oh, and just a side note!  I finally have my dream podcast studio setup complete that I mentioned in Show #185.  No more half ass equipment making the show.  Took awhile to collect, but I am very happy and satisfied with the professional equipment that I am working with in my studio to make the highest quality shows possible for us.  Also, If anything else changes show related I will be sure to keep you up to date on the podcast and here on Patreon!

Thank you for your support in keeping the show going and growing!  I hope I can continue to keep you informed and entertained, and hopefully you'll laugh along the way.  I know the Dremora and I will.

Sincerely,

Dude
