Monday Morning Dumpster Dive was an idea born over a coffee meeting between Yael and a friend. The plan was to create a podcast exposing news that governments or corporations tried to suppress through the age-old technique of pushing a press release on a Friday. The goal was to interview policy analysts, subject matter experts, and journalists about these stories to prevent them from getting buried.

At first, Yael teamed up with a field correspondent at a local radio station, and the two produced 29 episodes, many of which were played over the air. After 14 months and around 300 minutes of audio footage, Yael joined forces with journalist and veteran podcaster Trevor Hultner for the second iteration of the show. It is now featured on Soundcloud as well as Apple Podcasts on iTunes.

The Monday Morning Dumpster Dive is 100% self-funded/listener supported. We don’t have any angel or venture capital investment, and we don’t take corporate sponsorship. This allows us to maintain editorial independence and gives us creative freedom and flexibility, but it also has associated costs. There’s the actual equipment (microphones, mic stands, pop filters, shock absorbers, etc.), one-time purchases (call recording software, editing software, logo design), and ongoing subscriptions to services like SoundCloud and Jellycast.

By supporting our podcast through Patreon, you ensure that we can continue to operate and provide audio content that is free and accessible to the public.

With your pledge, not only will you be supporting independent reporting, you’ll get something, too: early access to episodes, behind-the-scenes bonuses, exclusive Q&As, and, of course, our eternal gratitude for helping us continue running the podcast and amplifying news scoops that other people want swept under the rug.

We are grateful for any and all contributions and thank you for your support.
