Considered a keystone species, wolves play an important role in ecosystem health, biodiversity, and species distribution balance. WOLVES patrons receive:
  • Monthly recommendations of texts, songs, and films that inspire my in-progress work
  • Access to 1 MOONLINE Writers' Lab session per lunar cycle
  • And everything in the previous tier

With etymological variants of mus, moos, mws, mos, mo-swa, and moos-u, the root of moose can be traced to several Proto-Algonquin languages up to 3,000 years old. Interestingly, moose morphed its Proto-Algonquin meaning within the Alguonquin language Ojibwe—where moose now means caterpillar. The MOOSE tier supports your own creative journeys through the linguistic and the performative. MOOSE patrons receive:
  • A monthly writing exercise or performance score for you to explore in the comfort of your own home or environment
  • Access to 2 MOONLINE Writers' Lab sessions per lunar cycle
  • And everything in the previous tiers

Note: If you would enjoy sampling benefits at a higher tier for awhile, or if your budget suggests a lower tier is more sustainable, please know it's always possible to upgrade or downgrade between tiers.

About a rawlings

The questions...

Care for a cup of tea? Fresh mint or birch-leaf?

I arrived to this platform considering how to share creative process. How to forge intimate connection across great distances. How to attune to our interdependence with our environments. And how an artist can ease financial precarity in the time of kórónavirus.

The answers...

Virtual terrain, the curio cabinet opened, response-able interactions with visitors. A Patreon subscription could make sharing, intimacy, and financial ease a possibility. In exchange, I offer access to:
  • in-progress interdisciplinary work, including manuscript excerpts;
  • audio, visual, and textual documentation of my geographic and multispecies encounters—in other words, moss moss moss moss mossy moss moss moss foreshore geoduck cuttlefish goodness;
  • writing exercises and performance scores for you to try in your environment;
  • opportunities for my creative feedback on your own work-in-progress;
  • cunning multilingual discoveries—especially cross-breeding English and Icelandic; and
  • owl humour, lots of it.

If we haven't met...

I'm a Canadian-Icelandic artist who lives and loves in Reykjavík. I create interdisciplinary artwork in conversation with ecosystems and inhabitants, and write about my art-making in the context of climate crisis issues. My work embraces an unusual range of topics including increased storminess, acoustic ecology, the Anthropocene, geosexuality, volcanology, mass whale strandings, Icelandic glaciers, breast cancer treatment, lepidoptery and lapidary, divinatory practices, and moss. Artistic practice is my life, and I've been at it for two thrilling decades. Check out my website for more.

Mo' money mo' albums

Money earned through Patreon enables me to create and publish new work. I have ten manuscripts more than 75% complete, but they are in need of dedicated time to reach the finish line. I'm also hard at work designing workshops, devising site-respondent performance, and mentoring brilliant fellow artists. Your support affords me the ability to share with care.

Goals
15 - reached! patrons
When I reach 15 patrons, I'll learn how to use Adobe After Effects in order to design a kóróna-directed visual poem that's been in my head for weeks. Poem will then be shared here as early access to new work.
