I love upcycling and Patreon is a way for me to share, and hopefully get support for, my recycled/upcycled glass art ideas. This site is a place where you can look at my mosaics, view my videos and postings that explain the process and who knows, you might be inspired to start working in recycled glass yourself.

Mosaics are a way to give recycled materials a new life and they are one of my main forms of expression.

I kilnform chipped vintage pieces and broken shards of bottles to smooth and flatten them. Sometimes I also add texture. Then I combine the many small pieces to create a new whole.

For me, the transformation of chunks of broken glass into an image that approximates a floral or folk-art inspired design (with the help of handmade molds, and 1400o F of kiln heat) has it’s own dream-like quality.

I have a very personal reason for wanting to repurpose objects from the past. There's often a place for things that might otherwise be discarded if you look hard enough to find it. I do that - and I don't limit myself to glass!

On a final note - my instructions work for me and I am pretty concerned with safety, but you need to know that I'm not a safety expert and there could be details about the glass I recycle that I have not yet learned. I'm sharing what I can... but I do feel the need for a bit of disclaimer here. Your results may vary. Please carefully read the instructions on adhesives you use, mold materials, etc. And know that glass can be sharp and glass dust can be hazardous.

0% complete
This is the amount that would allow me to pay someone to prepare my frames - freeing up at least 15 hours/month for me to create new mosaics and to share my glass art strategies and techniques with all of you who visit me here on Patreon.
