About

I was born in Norwich, England and right now I reside in rural Staffordshire. I’m working, both in collaboration and individually on various projects as well as my usual photographic work.
I do occasional work for art and fashion magazines as well as taking commissions from designers and other companies. I’ve published two books of my work - Aberrant Necropolis (a collection of key pieces of work from 2010 onwards) and Katabasis (a collaborative effort with Kennaland). I’ve made several short films including The Dissolution (2012) and Switch (2011).DECOHERENCE is a video game that I've been working on for just under a year with my partner and various other creatives. My work and style form the core visuals for the game.

Introduction
I've been a photographer my entire life, or at least for as long as I remember.
I guess most people would point out that I’m an ‘analogue’ photographer; meaning that I use only darkroom processes and film to create my works. But honestly, for me there’s no other way. These techniques are all I’ve known and have become part of me and my work, my craft if you like. As the world has moved on around me I’ve stubbornly stuck to the equipment and processes I’ve come to love. They’ve become something that, when married with my imaginings form part of a whole entity that would cease to exist without them. The processes, chemicals, cameras, lenses, film and all the other dusty, decaying photographic instruments ARE my work and the finished print you see if the impression left by all those things colliding with my inner thoughts and expressions.

Why Patreon?
We live in a time that lays between two great eras, namely the eras of film and digital production. Those familiar with my work will know that I use many techniques that were antiquated even before I was born. But as time wears on even the more mundane and previously mainstream film materials are vanishing from circulation. Many groups and individuals have worked to halt the disappearance of film from our culture but even the most optimistic amongst film supporters now has to face up to the sobering fact that film will eventually become a museum piece.

Whilst this may be the eventual outcome there exists a current period of flux wherein supplies of film dwindle and manufacturers slowly disappear. For most of my life I’ve struggled within this ‘twilight’ of the era of film but only more recently has this uphill march become almost too much for my bank balance to maintain. Finally it has begun to drive me from the thing I love the most - my work. I’ve recently had to give up my studio space and darkroom and condense my operation to my home. This is combined with a dwindling supply of chemicals and film as prices rise has lead to a curtailing of the amount of work I’m able to produce each month.

I hope to use the money you can donate to take on a new darkroom and afford supplies for more shoots each month. I’m also working on several long term projects, including, most notably - DECOHERENCE - a video game that uses my work exclusively for it’s art style. The extra funding would allow me extra time and supplies to conduct these projects.

What can I offer you?
As well as increasing and enriching my day to day work I wish to offer those who become patrons of my work extra material as a form of thanks. After donating through Patreon you’ll receive updates and behind the scenes photos and films of the projects I’m working on (Patreon allows for this and there’s no extra signup anywhere else). I want to give people a chance to see behind the curtain of my process and all that goes into making the work.

Finally
With your’s and other fellow patrons’ support I hope to be able to, not only continue to expand my body of work and publish new shoots each month but also expand into new territories without as much fear of the economic consequences. Without the support of all of the people who follow and believe in my work I certainly wouldn’t have come as far as I have. I’m grateful to everyone who has kept me afloat and who continue to allow me to do the thing I love.
