I have this vision. This one, all-consuming vision. And this one vision will directly impact you, but to arrive there, I'll need your support.

My name is Emily Depasse (she/her), a sexual health writer, speaker, educator, and aspiring sex therapist in Philadelphia, PA. I believe that the outdated narratives of STIs are in desperate need of an overhaul. The majority of my work aims to simultaneously bring awareness to and destigmatize sexually transmitted infections (STIs), specifically genital herpes. I received my BA in Gender and Sexuality Studies in 2015 and am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work and Master of Education in Human Sexuality Studies at Widener University. Upon graduation and licensure, I plan to serve this community in a therapeutic setting.

But my work doesn't stop there

Since I was a child, I've always felt a bit out of place. Over the years, I settled on a simple mantra for these unsettling moments. " I am different to make a difference." Now, I want to bring this mantra into fruition by highlighting our testimonies of resilience and capacity to create change.

Some of our greatest ideas start over a cup of coffee...

Phase 1
of my vision and business plan includes the launch of this Patreon and my upcoming podcast, Sex, Coffee, & Social Justice. One of my goals (funded through your support!) is to transform my herpes-related blog posts into recordings so that they are more accessible to my followers. Additionally, patrons will play a large role in shaping the content of the first season, like my herpes Q&A episode. What other topics would you like me to cover? Who are your dream guests (*Hint: It might even be you!*)? And more. Phase 1 also includes the launch of my first product (currently in design).

I want to dedicate my life to making a difference through connection, story-telling, and research. Phase 2 of this plan allocates more time to doing just that.

In Phase 2, I will expand my online store to include my virtual coffee shop. My virtual coffee shop, similar to an online studio, includes access to monthly journal prompts, workbooks, Q&A's, and more. With this expansion, I will be able to expand my virtual presence (hello videos!), as well.

Phase 3 brings these virtual chats into a furnished space with curated content for you.

My ultimate dream is to create a coffee shop that serves as a safe space for innovation, inspiration, and creative minds to flourish. To chat about social justice over coffee, tea, and more. To host social justice and sexuality workshops/trainings on a regular basis in collaboration with local and national speakers. This would serve as an inclusive space for your identity, growth, and resilience.

Why Patreon?
This work is my passion, but I am not compensated for it aside from my writing endeavors. Outside of my online presence, I belong to Club 9-5 while attending graduate school full-time. I am so dedicated to this cause and continue to share this content because I genuinely want to make a difference in this world. While in search of ways to fund my work, I came across Patreon. Unlike other platforms, Patreon presents me with an opportunity to give back to my community in exchange for funding my work. Whether you found my work on Instagram, through my blog, or through an internet search, if my work has touched you in any capacity, I am kindly asking for your support.
