About Emily Rapport

Hello!

A painter, I started Eat Paint Studio + Gallery in October 2018 as a working studio for myself as well as a public gallery. I want to make my own work more accessible to the general public and also exhibit new, emerging, and mid-career artists in the gallery space. Art has a social function. Art can be a neighborhood anchor that helps promote community, engagement, and new ideas. It encourages deeper experiences and thinking, and engages people with each other and the world. Having a storefront studio space means that the public can observe and experience a real working artist's studio as well as enjoy public exhibitions of finished work.

About My Work

Painting ordinary scenes is an active practice, an exploration of beauty and resonance in daily life. My subjects include familiar urban scenes like vacant lots, neighborhood houses, fast food restaurants, and El tracks. These subjects have a strong sense of locality but they also belong to a larger American landscape and culture.

What Your Support Means to Me

Art matters. Won't you help me support this project space and continue my work? I've set up rewards for all support levels, take a gander and consider giving $5/month. If you aren't comfortable with giving money, please come to shows and stop by the gallery! Your interest and support makes all the difference.

Thank you, friends.
