Ahh c'mere, you're too good.
This is so generous of you, thank you.

About Emma Langford

Hello, welcome!

I'm an independent and unsigned singer-songwriter from Limerick, Ireland. Up to now, I haven't had any representation, management or a label and honestly for the most part I'd like to keep it that way. I like my autonomy, I like creating music and videos directly for my fans and I like doing all that in the knowledge that no horde of middle-men will take a huge cut out of ticket and record sales.

I picked up an RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Award, and nominations for international awards like the Irish Post Music Award and the Malzhaus Plauen Folkmusikpreis off the back of my first album, Quiet Giant (2017) and have been promoting my second album Sowing Acorns since its release in September 2020 at the height of the pandemic.

Supporting me here on Patreon means I can really throw myself into the process of making and producing new music - it means that when turnout for a lovely gig I've tried my best to promote isn't great, the musicians can still get paid - it means I can take a day off here and there where I might not have afforded myself that before - so thank you!

"I'm just a musician, standing in front of a bunch of nice people who like music, asking them to support her."

In 2016 I released a self-titled crowd-funded EP, inspired and prompted by a song called Tug O' War which was about my struggle with self-doubt and anxiety. Tug O' War featured on the EP, but was reimagined with a full band on Quiet Giant too.

In 2017 I released Quiet Giant - a really gorgeous, atmospheric 10-track album showcasing songs written across the previous 3 years.
It was served up in a Jacob Stack illustrated case, and features instrumental beauty from Hannah Nic Gearailt (Keys, Cork), Peter Hanagan (Double Bass, New Mexico), Ray Yrure (Drums, Virginia), Alec Brown (Cello, Arkasas) and Tadhg Murphy (Violin, Drogheda).

Off the back of this release I did an international 100 date tour all over Europe in 2018. It was a special year. An intense year. But a special one. I learned a lot about who I am and what I want, and now I'm here.

Sowing Acorns came out last year and was really meant to propel me to that next level - I've had pretty great success with it, but let's face it, the pandemic had other ideas.

I'm in a place in my career and my life where it feels like time to tell new stories.
I want to throw everything at my new releases.

On my first and second albums, I worked with Grammy nominated production team the Production Suite, my regular musical comrades and some new additions to the team, sensational videographers, photographers and graphic artists, and a whole host of other brilliant humans to produce this.

I hope you can find a pound or two in your pocket to be part of the process of making something new and wonderful!

Every single contribution adds up to mean a whole damn lot to me, so thank you in advance for coming on board.
