From self-publishing to some of the biggest book publishers in the world, Emma loves telling stories with pictures. Her work includes the New York Times-bestselling Vampire Academy graphic novel series for Penguin Random House, the Yalsa 2013-recommended Avalon Chronicles for Oni Press and her creator-owned and Eagle-nominated Dragon Heir with Sweatdrop Studios. She is now working on the Alex Rider series for Walker books. Alongside comics, she's had fun recently working on the A&E television series, Bates Motel, providing the sketchbook found by Norman Bates.

I'm a comic creator by trade, but - like many artists - I rarely get to work on my own stories. A while back I met up online with Swedish writer,
Malin Ryden, via the wonderful world of video game fandom (Dragon Age, specifically), and we started making a story together - and now here we are making that story as a webcomic; BREAKS. We're working independently, which is wonderful, and we wanted to offer the story as a free-to-read webcomic...but of course that also means we're working for free. And this is where PATREON comes in.
So what is BREAKS?
Everyone wears a mask. What we see of people on the surface is so rarely what’s ticking underneath. And, in Cortland Hunt’s case, what he’s hiding might just be more than Ian Tanner is prepared for.
Breaks is the story of two young adults coming to terms with who they were, who they are and who they’ll become.

BREAKS is a real work of heart, and a side project for us both alongside super busy jobs and contracts. We want to be able to make it and upload it for free, and by Jove, we shall! But the Patreon system seems an incredible way of potentially reaching people who are interested in backing the process as well... You become my employers, my publisher; providing me with a page rate of sorts for the work I'm doing. And if we do gain some shiny support, it could mean I'd be able to focus on the project and create more pages a week, print editions and personal commissions for especially shiny donations! In short, your support would buy time spent on BREAKS. And time = more pretty stuff!
