I am a designer working on a massive side project to make digital products safer for everyone through centering survivors of domestic violence. This currently takes the form of a talk that I've done at technology and design conferences in the US and Canada, with more coming up. By the end of April I'll have a written version of that talk (and my patrons will get access first!) The next step after that is to get all the resources online and to start collaborating with all the amazing survivors and activists I've met so far.

My end goal is to create a "Web Safety Standards" similar to the Web Accessibility Standards, which will cover all of the standards technology makers should be following to ensure their products cannot be used as tools of abuse. Ideally these standards will also have legal teeth behind them, just like the accessibility standards.

All of this work takes a lot of time. I work full-time at a software consultancy, meaning that the vast majority of my work around inclusive safety is done on my own time. I'm typically also working a side job, such as teaching UX or doing a freelance project. By supporting me as a Patron, you're helping me say "no" to these side hustles that take me away from my inclusive safety work, and allowing me focus more of my free time on this important work.

You can learn more about me, and see upcoming places I'm doing my Designing Against Domestic Violence talks, at my website: evapenzeymoog.com.

$50 around what I charge for charge per hour for freelance when working for a non-profit or friend. With your support at this level, I can become more selective about when I take on this kind of work and focus more on my work around designing
for inclusive safety and preventing domestic violence in tech. This is the generous option.

At this tier you will receive a half hour phone conversation to discuss how to ensure your product cannot be used as a tool for violence.

$100 around what I charge for charge per hour for freelance when working for a traditional client. With your support at this level, I can take on less or none of this kind of work and instead focus more on my work around designing for inclusive safety and preventing domestic violence in tech. This is the super generous option.
