About Eric Shay Howard

My name is Eric. I write literary fiction and I also have a blog. I live in Louisville, Kentucky. Sometimes I post my short stories on my blog. My first fiction collection, Crushes, is available now. I'm working on the next one.

On my Patreon page, I share early drafts and early access to my short stories every week. I post my stories on Fridays. I'm a gay man, so I write about themes of sexuality a lot. My short fiction is literary in style, and there may be brief sexual content in some of my work.

There is something special about sharing your early drafts with people. I love sharing my work with others. I come from a background in academic, constructive, but very blunt workshopping. I love the short story form because I love exploring characters and possibilities in the context of the moment. I write as often as I can. They're not all winners, but I usually learn something from the piece if I keep at it. Sometimes my pieces are rewritten over and over again until they're right. Some of the stories in my first collection were worked on for 6 years.

I recently graduated with my MBA and now that I have more time to devote to my personal writing again, I'm using this Patreon account along with my blog to keep me productive. I plan to share at least one story a week. My stories vary in length. Many of them are very very short stories. Some of them are quite long. I don't concern myself with the length all that much. I just like writing.

I generally just post the fiction here. My blog is at
$0 of $100 per month
At $100 a month, I'm able to afford my blog hosting fees, paper, printer ink, pens, and a few books from fellow writers. I can also get to the coffee shop a few times a week. If I meet this goal, I'll post a bonus short story every Wednesday, in addition to the stories I post on my website on Friday.
