Hi Everyone,

I'm Erin Kendrick, an emerging visual artist and arts educator from Jacksonville, Florida and I am ready to step fully into the world of art.  My goal is to become a full-time Artist and Professor as soon as possible (because it's long overdue). I currently work as an Art Educator at various levels (public school/higher ed) and I create as much as artwork as I can in between my teaching duties. My goal is to be the type of artist who earns her right to a place in art history. I believe that I have the talent and the drive to be a part of major public and private collections and to grow as a voice in the global art community. I would love if you could help me take the next steps in getting there.

WHAT YOU'RE MAKING POSSIBLE
I don't want to simply make a living, I want to make a life. A life with purpose that allows me to express myself and serve the community as well. Your support will offer the freedom to focus more time on creative ventures like building bodies of work that deserve pages in art history books. I also aspire to be a resource for other emerging artists regarding the business of art including - professional presentation, best practices, and more (the teacher in me wants to help other artists as I grow ;-)

My painting process is somewhat unique. The process that I use to apply paint is directly connected to the subject matter. My subject matter is comprised of portraits of women of color and my intention is to portray our "humanness" in my work. We are all made up of stains, impressions from moments in our lives, our histories, our circumstances. I tell those stories in my artwork by constructing images of women of color through a process of staining using ink. The figures in my work confront the viewer and the assumptions, perceptions, biases, and/or admiration that they bring to work. My figures stare back at the viewer, regaining agency, telling their own stories.

Your patronage will be rewarded in a few ways including access to behind the scenes footage as I welcome you into my art studio where I create work, exhibition previews (a plus for collectors), and digital resources for those looking to become better professional artists and better art collectors. The time is now so I hope that you will join me on this journey. I appreciate your time, your support, and your investment. Let's go!
