About Phil Bowles

A few years ago, I retired to a French farmhouse, which need new wiring and lights. I decided to add home automation and chose the ESP8266. Even having had a few decades of programming experience, it turned out the ESP8266 has a few "gotchas", so I wrote "Esparto". It's an open-source firmware (on github) which takes 99% of the pain out of developing your own IOT apps and provides a ton of functionality "for free".

I did this because I could see that many other folk were having the same problems as me, and I have always been one to "give back to the community". Hoping for a little Karma in return...
