Welcome to the Est. 1982 Podcast!

Est. 1982 Podcast is the geek culture podcast hosted by responsibly irresponsible adults who love video games, comics, movies and TV since 1982!

Why 1982? This was the year that video game consoles such as Atari, Intellivision, ColecoVision, and Odyssey caught our attention as they reached their peak before the video game industry crash in 1983. We represent a generation that witnessed the birth, death, and resurrection of video gaming, as well as the origin of hip hop and modern geek culture. These elements are in our DNA and make us who we are today. Join Wally Analog, Rowls Royce Elite, Hattori Hanzo, and Mr. Nutz 05 as we provide our perspectives on video games, movies, and more!

On September 16, 2015, we recorded our first podcast and introduced ourselves to the world. We had no clue what we were doing but wanted to share our passion for the geek culture. We want to connect with people that carry the same passion. With each podcast, we’ve learned something new about the world of podcasting and attempting to find our audience.

Fast forward.. three years later, our main goal is to provide high quality, informative content for our audience. We have expanded our network with another podcast, Black Lightning: The ’82 Podcast, with plans to add more! We are working hard to bring our podcast to YouTube, Twitch and other video outlets. We want to venture outside our studio to bring you the latest news from conferences such as E3, San Diego Comic-Con and SXSW.

Though it is easy to start a podcast with little to no money, we are quickly finding that to expand our podcast network to better serve our audience requires – MONEY.

So, why Patreon?
What does your money go towards?

• All the Business Stuff - We quickly discovered that we started not only a podcast, but a business. As with any business, Est. 1982 Podcast has financial obligations that must be met. We have to pay fees every year for various items that include accountant, studio space, Wi-fi, software, lawyer, etc.

• Podcast and Website Hosting - Every time we record an episode for Est. 1982 or Black Lightning, we have to upload and store to a podcast hosting service that distributes to the array of internet and mobile devices.

• Running the Est. 1982 Podcast network - In efforts to improve the quality of the podcast, we have to make sure all of our equipment and software is fully operational. As we expand and create MORE CONTENT and SHOWS, we are required to purchase and replace more equipment that will give us the ability to go on location, stream live to multiple sources and bring others in to the network to provide even more perspectives and content. We use equipment such as the ZOOM H6 Six-Track Portable Controller, Audio Technica Condenser Mics, Canon 5D DSLR’s, etc.

• Coverage of Events and Conventions - Est. 1982 wants to be where the action is! We would LOVE to create a series of episodes/videos from the latest E3, San Diego Comic-Con, SXSW, etc. to bring you the latest interviews, news, and developments in geek culture. We need your support on airfare and lodging to these massive events.

If you support our podcast, WE WANT TO THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!
