About Damien Maguire

Hi! My name is Damien Maguire. I am an electronics engineer based in the southeast of Ireland. For over 11 years now I have been combining my love of cars with my commitment to sustainable technology by converting BMWs into electric vehicles and making videos on all aspects of the process. Thanks to some amazing connections, in the summer of 2017 I acquired a large Tesla drive unit. This began an odyssey of reverse engineering and design of open source control boards for Large and small Tesla Model S drive units and the 10kw Gen 2 battery charger. These designs went through many revisions and thanks to the support of people both here on Patreon and elsewhere, I succeeded in this mission.

These designs represent the ONLY open source and completely free way to run Tesla components in an EV conversion. Programmable configurable and scalable for your application. Recently I even tested the large drive unit on a race track but the less said about my driving skills the better!

So what now? Well, I've got the bug and want to keep hacking and open sourcing solutions to let you use OEM electric vehicle components in your projects. Sadly, that costs money and that's where your support is invaluable. I can't keep doing this without help so why not jump in, help out and get a sneak preview of my next mad project :)

Crack the Tesla Model S center display. The Model S center display (aka the MCU, big screen) is the heart of the car. Basically a powerful computer, it control the whole car. What  I want to do is modify it in a way to make it usable in custom vehicle builds without all the cloak and dagger of existing software hacks that get closed everytime the firmware is updated. Basically, I want to modchip this thing:)
