About Eventyr Games
Eventyr Games is a small, independent content creator for 5E D&D and tabletop roleplaying games in general. And by small, I mean small – most of the time it's just me, J. A. Valeur, and then whoever else comes along for the ride on individual projects.
Since 2015 I have created free and at-cost guides, adventures, maps, and homebrew-content for fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons both on www.dmsguild.com and www.eventyrgames.com. Particularly the DM's guides for various published adventures – such as Storm King's Thunder, Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, and Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden – have been well received on the DM's guild, exceeding even my wildest expectations!
Why support the Patreon?
In early 2020, I quit my regular job and decided to commit fully to being a D&D content creator. This has given me time and freedom to pursue my passion and put out more content, but also created pressure that wasn't there before.
Because creating content for D&D is now the way I put food on the table and diapers on my kids, I often feel that I need to prioritize creating profitable content over making other, less profitable types of content, such as video guides, articles, adventures, and so on. And that's a shame.
In the end, I started creating content for D&D as a hobby because I want to inspire others to play the best D&D possible – while being inspired by others, in turn! I want to hold on to that motivation, which is why I decided to start a Patreon.
When you sign up as a patron, you help enable me – and the talented people working with me – to continue to create the best affordable (or even free!) content, while hopefully keeping both my spouse and my accountant off my back.
So, yeah, if you want to come along for an adventure – or an 'eventyr' as we call it, where I'm from – I'd love to have you join the party!
