Dr. Nate Bergman's journey to starting the Evolving Past Alzheimer's show was born out of both personal experience and frustration with the current state of affairs in medicine. After a short stint in performance art, several years in spiritual retreat, he embarked on a career in medicine. Nate opted to become a doctor of osteopathic medicine because of the profession's acknowledgment of the multidimensional nature of humankind (ie physical and spiritual beings).

Nate's interest in brain health, prevention, and disease treatments was spawned in part by his own illness. Over the course of his second and third years of medical training he suffered severe memory loss. This left him shaken and with very few people to share these experiences with...and unless someone has experienced this it is difficult to express what it feels like to "lose your mind." After rounds of medical evaluation and treatments and support from his family his memory and brain function were restored and even better than before his illness. This experience and his endless curiosity for "doing things a better way" has led him to share these ideas on the Evolving Past platform.

Currently, Nate is a board certified physician and the Chief Scientific Wellness Officer at Kemper Cognitive Wellness in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to being with Kemper, Nate co-developed the brain health program at the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Functional Medicine. While not at work Nate can be found enjoying time with his wife and their five remarkable children or on the dance floor.
