I'm producing info videos to help people in the SOHO world with IT and business topics. The plan is to post two videos a week. Tuesdays are reserved for Excel, since it's probably the Office app that most people want to learn. Thursdays will be "the et cetera days" where I'll be covering a variety of topics like other Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Access) and other popular software, and business topics such as project management, business and financial analysis, and ideas from the mailbag.

The idea is twofold. First, I'd like to provide a means of people learning useful information on their own time, without having to commit a lot of money and time that they may not have on attending traditional workshops. Learning can be done on demand (easier on the schedule) and in more convenient locations (a lot of people that I've trained over the years say that they 'learn better' on their own computers). And second, I'd like to put some of the knowledge and experience that I've accumulated over the past 15 or so years doing what I do into the hands of people that may benefit from it.

Your donations will go toward overhead and production costs. From monthly software subscription fees for Office to annual web hosting charges - not to mention paying for video editing software (someday I hope to be able to upgrade to Camtasia...) - it all adds up. Beyond just recouping my direct costs, it would be nice to get something for the time that it takes to write and produce each video. If you're willing to help make that happen with a pledge, then thanks - I really appreciate it.

The previous rewards plus a 1 hour consult for the month. It can be working on a problem for you for an hour off-line; it can be a live one-on-one session (subject to scheduling, all times in US Central Time); or it can be a combination, such as me working on a problem for you and then calling to go over it with you via Skype, Google Hangout, or TeamViewer or similar desktop sharing service should it be necessary.

This is the point where I start to think that producing "instructables" just might be a full time job (ie, I can pay my bills and mortgage with it while supplying the huskies with a goodly amount of Beggin' Strips per week). It all depends whether or not this is a sustainable level of funding.
