About Arturo Tha Cuban

Welcome to my Patreon page!

My name is Arturo and I am a stroke survivor. I suffered the life-changing event in 2014 at the age of 40. I have not been able to go back to work since and I've always had a passion for writing. I decided to begin taking courses online through edX to help me fine tune my skills and further my education and knowledge on the topics that I have so much experience with.

I'm here on Patreon because I would like to one day earn a living from my writing. I have several book ideas on topics that interest me and I also have a lot of experience with. Currently, I am a freelance journalist for Futuro Media and most of my articles have so far been published through Latino Rebels; an outlet that is part of the Futuro Media Group, a non-profit independent media organization founded by the great Maria Hinojosa.

I have studied immigration, racism and hate groups, political science, and horticulture. I'm also an advocate for equality, justice, social equity, immigrant rights, and so much more. I treat suffering a stroke as a blessing in disguise as it has granted me more time than I could have ever asked for - allowing me to focus on my dream of writing about the issues that matter to me the most - in order to make a positive contribution to society in these ever-tumultuous times.

It took nearly two years to adjust to being a stroke survivor and in that time I spent a considerable amount of effort becoming self-aware. I've struggled with mental illness my whole life and I'm also a child survivor of sexual assault by a family member. It's a time in my life that became part of who I am but I refuse to let it define me as the father and husband I am today.

I'm on Patreon to write all of those books I have in me, and since having a stroke I live my life with a whole new sense of urgency. Most of what I write is freely available at my blog on Medium and I syndicate much of my work on my own through various social media platforms and media outlets.

I'm on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram and I enjoy connecting with like-minded people who are also out there sharing their stories, life experiences, and supporting one another.

My hope is to create a tight-knit group of people who share each other's stories, help each other with platform building, and share ideas to help us all get published and succeed in whatever creative platform speaks to us individually. I want to be here for you, and I want to appreciate all of you being present in my life.

My main goals for Patreon are:

- To share wonderful, well thought out content with subscribers for as little as one dollar a month
- To help generate income to help with supporting my family who supports and cares for me
- To build websites for all of our work. Yes, OUR work.
- To build a community of ambitious creatives with which to share each other's work
- To be supportive of one another regardless of what each one of us struggles with

I look forward to meeting and learning more about each and every one of you, as I hope to share my life and offer as many teachable moments that I possibly can.

Because when we journey together, we can achieve all the things.

Much Love.
