The Feathered Fae: The story

Devesh has a bad reputation among the Fae. Really bad. Even the Unseelie are hesitant to associate with him. Hoping to fix that reputation, he vows to help anyone he comes across in his travels. With his only motivation being improved reputation, and no regret for the actions that ruined his, can he let go of his past and learn to be good, or will old habits be too hard to resist?

Origins

Devesh as a character has been with me for quite some time. Originally a fandom OC I used for role playing, I initially launched a tumblr page for him March 1, 2013. Time passed and my connection to him has grown. His history and identity evolved, separating him from the original fandom. Now it's time for me to share his story as it's become.

Who is Devesh?

Most simply, Devesh is a Fae coming from a tribe from a jungle in what is now modern India. They call themselves The Children of Simurgh. Each member has great bat like wings with a fine cover of feathers.

Devesh is unique among his people. A gesture of selflessness in his youth granted him the power over fire, and revival from death. Many classify him as a phoenix, though he is hesitant to accept the term.

At a young age he knew he was male. He has been presenting as such since puberty. When this story begins, he has recently got help to transition his body to his comfort.

Trauma in his youth made it hard for him to form connections, and a chain of bad events caused by humans fostered a hatred for them in Devesh. This hatred lead to a decades long killing spree, which drove away his companions, took his ability to fly, and ruined his reputation.

How becoming a Patron helps

With your support I will be able to spend more time on writing and editing this story. It will also be possible for me to post on an independent website. Further more I will be able to commission artists to create unique artworks. In the long run, I will be able to buy better equipment and programs, pay a professional editor, and, if interest is high enough, publish volumes as ebooks.

So please, consider becoming a patron today.
