About FichtenFoo aka Michael Fichtenmayer

I'm a mostly traditional model-maker who's recently been upgraded with hard-surface 3D skills. I design a lot of robots, 1/6 figures and accessories in cyberpunk, steampunk, and dieselpunk.aesthetics. Sometimes the errant doll or fantasy sculpt as well. I've run the FichtenFoo model website and forum since 2005 and own/operate Industria Mechanika. I don't usually do a lot of videos as it's not how I typically learn which makes it difficult for me to create them a bit, but I can learn and I am however very active with in-progress images and how-to descriptions and a lot of artists have made use of my builds for learning and inspiration over the years. About 20 model-making to be exact and 25+ as a professional graphic designer. I'm very organic with my design/fabrication processes and tend to go more from notions and ideas in my head rather than sketches which is funny as I majored in illustration way back in art school.

What do I plan to offer?

1: Answers to model-making questions. I answer a lot of questions on my Facebook and Instagram feeds about how I make things. I also experiment with a lot of techniques so after years of practice and learning from my mistakes, I'm at a point where I feel like I could fabricate just about anything I ever needed model-wise and do it well. Have a model fabrication related question? Ask! I'm no Google, but I have a lot of experience in problem-solving model and diorama design and I am happy to help as long as it doesn't interfere with generating other content. Please understand that I can not answer technical 3D printing questions however... best to take that to the experts in that area.

2: 3D Files. Now that I am also creating in 3D, I'd like to somehow be able to create for everyone, yet still be able to make a living from it. I've got a whiteboard full of ideas and am always coming up with more. Because I am really into articulation and robots/mecha, I'd like to release a few accessories a month and perhaps even whole articulated printable mecha assembled with hardware (machine screws, nuts, bolts, etc) over time. Perhaps a component or two a month. I focus on 1/6 scale/~27-30cm tall subjects with consistent designs so most of my robots would have interchangable components. The same arms may work on several bodies for instance. Also will be creating 1/6 scale weapons, armor and more. And because it's 3D, most are scalable. The robots might be difficult to scale down due to my already using m2 hardware (really small, 2.4mm holes to pass bolts through) but one could easily scale up! Be warned though... I make whatever I'm interested in at the moment so things may be random, but awesomely fun. My abilities come from a place of fun and excitement over my subject matter and the more excited, the better the outcome.

3: 2D graphics for decals and iron-ons. One of the aspects of robot modeling that I've been known for the longest is my custom decal designs. Getting one-off waterslide decals printed has been more difficult over the years so I can only do batches of 250 sheets. But if you've access to a laser-jet printer and perhaps the newer white inks, then this may be for you! I also design a lot of iron-on graphics and airbrush masks for my 1/6 figures which I can also offer.

4: I get a lot of requests for my 1/6 scale clothing patterns so perhaps some of that now and then along with sewing demo videos.

***Can I Sell Prints?***

With the exception of the Trusted Merchant Tier, under no circumstances are any files, STLs, 3D prints, casts, images or any other material distributed by myself to be sold. If you are a subscriber of the Merchant Tier then the below rules apply:

• You may only sell 3D prints of my models. No moulds, no casts, or any other means of reproduction.
• On all shop listings, clear credit must be given naming me (Michael Fichtenmayer, or as FichtenFoo) as the sculptor/creator. Additionally you must post online or via social media a link to my Patreon, and website. To assist in this merchants should include the following text on all shop listings of prints of my STLs:

"This company is officially licensed to sell physical prints of FichtenFoo models, obtained through the FichtenFoo Patreon, or On-Line Shop. Original digital .stl files of this model can be purchased either by joining the FichtenFoo Patreon (at: patreon.com/FichtenFoo ),or at IndustriaMechanika.com

• Your right to sell 3D prints of my models lasts only as long as your subscription to the merchant tier. Should you cancel the Merchant Tier subscription, you will no longer be permitted to sell prints of my models.

• Upon signing up to Merchant Tier you are to message me with a link to your storefront so that I may list your store on my website where I direct anyone looking for physical purchases.

• I reserve the right to remove patrons from this tier at my own discretion.

Thanks!

When I reach 150 Patrons, I will finalize the 1/6 scale Jasper.A poseable robot kit and release it subscribers. It was my first 3D project so needs some polishing up and added detail now that I have more experience. Here's the original near-finished promo pics: https://www.instagram.com/p/CIyEFplnRjR/
