About

I'm a veteran of the Hollywood animation industry, and was Head Character Designer on ALF, C.O.P.S., Captain N, Extreme Ghostbusters, Godzilla the series, Tutenstein, Max Steel, Heavy Gear, Starship Troopers: Roughnecks Chronicles, Spectrobes, Igor, to name a few shows. I've been posting some of my old designs on Deviant Art. I've returned to my first love, comics, but they don't pay well... You get the drift.

If you grew up watching Saturday Morning Animated Shows from 1987-2008 you are probably already familiar with my work. I was the lead character designer on all of the following projects:
the animated ALF show, C.O.P.S, Captain N, Extreme Ghostbusters, Godzilla the series, Max Steel, Heavy Gear,
Starship Troopers: Roughnecks Chronicles, Igor, Dark Fury and more. I created and sold the game Spectrobes to Disneyand won an Emmy for my design work on Tutenstein.

I left Hollywood in 2010 to return to comics, my first love. Currently I am working on two titles and the point of this Patreon is to let you into my world, my art and my process. I'll also show you creature & character designs from my entire career.

What are the titles that I am doing for the American publisher Image Comics?

8House: Yorris
I am writing Yorris with Helen Maier, who for 31 years has been my creative partner. Helen and I have re-imagined our entire animation career, mashed all of the shows that we've worked on into one big project, with a new, but familiar style, and using old school inking with steel nibs and brushes, the same way I made comics back in the 80s.

Part 1 is due for release this October. Part 2 in November.

Oh and Yorris has plenty of monsters, creatures, and ghostly things as only I design them.

Zooniverse
This is a reprint of my comic published in 1986-87 that caught the eye of Producer, Richard Raynis, who flew me out to Hollywood, beginning my career in animation. I'm recoloring all six issues, 150+ pages, it's a huge job. Zooniverse will be serialized in Island Magazine also from Image Comics.
I've also completed 13 pages of the new Zooniverse series.

To sum up:
I will show you character and creature designs that no one else has ever seen outside of the animation Productions, plus current artwork from the comics that I am working on, with occasional video updates on my YouTube channel, and PDFs.

I look forward to meeting you!

Cheers,
Fil Barlow
