Milestone Goals
Retrospectives
At this milestone we will begin recording special retrospective episodes where we cover a series of films like Steven Seagal movies, or the films of Wes Anderson.
More Ryan - Bonus Episodes of Ryan Watches a Movie
Every week we make our buddy Ryan Holes watch a movie, and now you can hear him lament over even more bottom-of-the-barrel releases with a bonus episode every week. Backers will be able to suggest what movies they want Ryan to watch, and we’ll make it happen.
Weekly News Segment
At this goal we'll add a news segment to the podcast and also create a video version every week and publish it on here as well as Youtube.
Live Podcast
At this goal we will produce a live podcast and enable a chat room to interact with listeners as we talk about the week's films.
Ryan Goes to Fantastic Fest
Ryan always wanted to check out Fantastic Fest in Austin, and at this goal we'll have enough to book a handicapped accessible hotel room. Of course, we'll be covering the entire trip on the site and podcast, and hopefully through video as well.
No Ads Anywhere
In the absolutely ridiculous event that we hit this level all advertising will be removed from the website and all our Youtube videos in order to provide a truly ad-free experience.

A Brief Introduction
Hello and thank you so much for taking the time to check out the Patreon page for Film Pulse! My name is Adam Patterson, and I started Film Pulse three years ago as a way to introduce film lovers to new movies and to keep people up to date on the latest news in the world of cinema. Along with my buddy and fellow cinephile, Kevin Rakestraw, we began writing reviews for the latest releases and started growing from a two-person blog to a fully developed website with several talented critics contributing their thoughtful opinions.
Why Patreon?
Film Pulse has always been a labor of love for me, and even though we feature a few banner ads on our site, most of the costs come out of my own pocket, which is preventing us from growing our site and expanding our reach. We have always declined sponsored articles and have kept our podcasts ad free. We want to keep it this way, but as administrative costs go up, it's becoming more difficult to keep things going. If you're a regular to the site, you also know we avoid click-bait like the plague, so please help us to avoid having to write a dozen articles dissecting the latest Star Wars casting rumors just to lure visitors to our site. We're an indie site devoted to indie movies, and our goal is to stay that way.
What Changes Will Happen to the Site and Podcasts?
First and foremost the site won't disappear due to lack of funding! In addition, if this Patreon is a success, we will be able to devote more time to the site and the podcasts and produce more content than ever before.
Where Your Contribution Will Go
The primary use of any funds we receive from this Patreon campaign will be used to cover administrative costs for the website and podcasts. This will enable us to keep doing the podcasts completely ad free and will ensure that we don't have to create additional and more intrusive ads on the website (because no one wants that). Additional funds will be used for travel expenses for festivals and events.
None of our writers or editors draw a paycheck from Film Pulse, so we only ask that you, Patreon visitor, help us to keep unbiased and independent film reviews available to our listeners and to grow into an even better and more comprehensive news source for our readers.

Film Festivals
On average, we try to cover 4-5 film festivals each year, but travel is expensive and it's becoming impossible to pay for them out of pocket. Funds from this Patreon will help us cover travel expenses and enable us to provide more extensive coverage from festivals throughout the year.
Podcasts
Right now, we need to be very careful not to exceed our space limit on our
podcast hosting platform, but if we hit the $500 threshold on this campaign, we
will be able to produce an extra episode of “Ryan Watches a Movie” every week.
This will also allow us to experiment with some other ideas we've been toying
with regarding new features for the regular weekly show. We also plan on recording bonus episodes available exclusively to backers.
News
Currently, I write all the news articles for the site myself, which is proving
to be a very daunting task and limits the amount of news we can deliver to you.
If this campaign proves to be a success, it will allow us to have more news
articles and to compensate one writer to help develop this content.
Videos
We recently started dabbling in video with our “Film Pulse Plays” series on
YouTube, and while the first four episodes turned out great and were a success,
it takes a tremendous amount of resources to produce them. Because we cover all
the video games associated with our chosen film, we also need to purchase the
games, which adds up, even when we're dealing with old games from the 8-bit
era.
We would also like to eventually upgrade our camera and audio equipment to start regularly
shooting video from film festivals and video podcasts and produce a higher quality podcast.
