Fluentum is Arseny Poltorak and Alexey Kolesnikov, two friends from a country called Latvia. Both went to the same music school some twenty years ago. Arseny played bassoon, and Alexey - violin, obviously. Back then we didn't talk much, just happened to meet sometimes in corridors in the early 90's.

It wasn't until November, 2016, that we met again and tried improvising together. It became clear right away that we should do it more often. So, our second live set, recorded on November 29th, became our first official video released as Fluentum.

We feel confident about our duet. It's a pleasure to play with someone who feels similarly about music, and who can express it in improvisation. Our aim is to combine simplicity of modern tunes with complexity of classical structure. The music of today often lacks variety in harmonic ideas. We call it the square music. At the same time classical music is not something many listeners are ready to explore, because it lacks the modern touch. We wish to find the golden mean between the two in order to create beautiful, fresh and moving melodies.

Fluentum means "flow" in Latin. The support we receive from you is our additional motivation to apply more focus towards creation of new spirit uplifting Flows for you to enjoy. Thank you for your attention!
