Hi! I'm Flux!

I've been creating and building websites since I was first introduced to HTML post-Y2K and playing card games since the Pokemon TCG came to North America.

I've dedicated the last 6 years of my life to a little game named Hearthstone, maybe you've heard of it. I was the Community Manager over at one of the largest English-speaking websites for the game, HearthPwn, and these years have been spent keeping people up to date with the latest and greatest from the game while dreaming up new features for the site.

I no longer want to only dream, I want to build.

Back in March and April of this year I launched a small pilot project called HearthStation with my team. A ton of community feedback was received from the site and since then I have been working to figure out the best way forward. Hearthstone is an amazing game and although it remains a primary focus (<3), expanding into more digital card games needs to become a reality.

The beautiful thing about the card game genre is that there are many players who take part in multiple games. It is easy to get into a new card game if you have experience with another so if one gets stale for you, another can fill that void. There's isn't really a great catch-all place to talk card games while sharing your favourite creations within them via custom tools (thanks reddit) so that's what I'm creating - a central card game community.

Now, let's get some important stuff out of the way.

Out of Cards

Out of Cards is a new website that isn't dedicated to just one card game, we're going to talk about many. Initially, we'll support Hearthstone and once we're doing well there, we're going to add more games to our deck.

MTG Arena support will come second. We love the game and can't wait to jump into something new! You're likely to see additional content for other games as well - our team gets around when it comes to card games ;)

Ads

Ads suck. The goal is to make Out of Cards a place where no one will have to be bothered by ads for as long as possible. Through the support of the community on places like Patreon, I'm hoping to create a fast, friendly community that can sustain itself for generations of card slinging.

I'm not saying we will never have ads. If the only way forward in the future is to enable them on the site, care will be taken to ensure users are safe and that we keep them to an absolute minimum.

Supporting the Site

There's a few ways you can support this independent endeavour.

Support on Patreon

You're right here! This is one of the best places to go to support Out of Cards. By creating a monthly subscription to the site, you help it stay sustainable. There aren't any perks available on the site just yet for subscribing, but it is high on the to-do list.

All supporters will, in time, receive special titles, colored names, and other cool cosmetic goodies for their support via Patreon. Right now, you will receive access to a special channel on our discord server for supporters of the site along with a special rank.

Support by Being a Member of the Community

It feels a bit cliche to say but it is one of the best ways you can show your appreciation for the site. By making use of it I know that you're actually getting something out of it and must be on to something special.
