Fold Up Toys are characters and templates you can print, cut out, fold and glue together to create 3D real world figures.
Hello, I’m Alex Gwynne, a graphic designer and paper engineer with over a decade's experience designing paper toys and paper crafts based in Yorkshire here in the UK. For the last 10 years I’ve been releasing free downloadable paper toys on my website folduptoys.com and offering help to fellow designers where I can. Now I'm on Patreon so you can support my work.
Nope! There will always be many toys available for free over on Folduptoys.com this Patreon simply allows me to create exclusive rewards for those wanting to go the extra mile and support my designs. Some models will be available in early access to Patreon supporters before the public though. It’s completely up to you, any support is greatly appreciated even just £1 a month is lovely. However, I’ve got a few set tiers with exclusive rewards:
Pledging £1 or over means you'll gain access to the Support Droids, four brightly coloured miniature robot paper toys. These models are sent out at the end of each month to first time supporters. You'll also gain early access to models up to two weeks before they're available to the public through the Patreon feed, no more waiting around and watching the countdown timer. As an extra thank-you your name will also appear at the end of videos posted to the Alex Gwynne youtube channel, so you can show it to your friends and proudly proclaim "I helped make this happen".
Pledging £5 or over gives you access to a new supporter exclusive model every month. Each model is part of the Advanced Series, a line of toys focusing on advanced paper engineering and layout that may prove too challenging for inexperienced crafters. You'll also get an extra supporter exclusive video each week showing behind the scenes of Fold Up Toys, seeing what's in the work, and what goes wrong. Each month you'll also have the ability to ask a question which will be answered in a monthly questions and answers video.
Pledging £15 or over gives you access to blank and editable PSD versions of any free paper toys released that month. This makes customizing and creating your own paper toys a breeze! You also get a one on one talk with Alex (the designer behind Fold Up Toys) in which you can ask any design question you like. Can't quite figure out how to create a shape? Need advise for creating a new toy line? Just ask Alex!
