What Is Audio Drama?

Audio drama is a method of storytelling done only with the use of sound. The medium first appeared in the 1920s, was hugely popular in the 1940s, and has experienced a successful resurgence in the 2000s thanks to podcasting outlets. If you think about it, audio drama has existed for about as long as the human race has been around. One could argue that the stories shared verbally by our ancestors could be considered audio drama.

Who Are We?

Our names are Kasey and Amanda. We’re a couple of writers and voice acting enthusiasts based in the rural Midwest. Between the two of us, we have a lot of stories we want to share with the world. After discovering audio drama several years ago, we taught ourselves how to produce them and are working on putting our stories into audio form. Along with us are several dozen voice actors who help us out on a regular basis.

Current projects include:

Supernatural Genderswap
Supernatural is an extremely popular show aired on the CW. Beginning in 2005, the show resonates with a lot of people and has accrued a massive following. One of the common complaints of the show is that there are no strong women characters or, when they’re there, the show kills them off when it does nothing to move the plot along. There is also quite the strong call online to see what Sam and Dean would have been like as women. So that’s what we did. The brothers are now Samantha and Deana, and we’re examining the show through a more feminine perspective.

Status: Season three in progress.

Dear Boss
Dear Boss is a multi-episode romantic suspense set in the fictional town of West Haven, Michigan, that has a Jack the Ripper copycat terrorizing the locals. The killer is even sending taunting letters addressed to ‘Dear Boss.’ Tanner Broden is the relatively new police chief receiving these letters. He has help from a new transfer and old friend, Nemika Worthington, who’s come to town specifically to help investigate the case. But things are more complicated between the two officers than they appear. Unexpected circumstances force both of them to face their demons, and they’re going to need each other’s help to make it out in one piece.

Status: Trying to fundraise.

ReDUX

ReDUX is an original story inspired by the time travel television series from 1982, Voyagers. The project was created to pay homage to the series but also is done in memory of one of its leading actors, Jon-Erik Hexum, who died in 1984 from a firearms accident on the set of another TV series. Voyagers was canceled after its first season and left unfinished. ReDUX is written with the intention of continuing the idea in a new and more modern way.

Status: Being revamped.

Shall We Date: Scarlet Fate
This is an otome game in which the player is a princess in Feudal Japan. She finds out that there is a prophecy connected to her that says she’ll bring about the end of the world, so she goes on a journey to prevent that with several of her friends.

Status: In the planning stage.

Why Patreon?

Our fan projects are done for fun and for the enjoyment of the online community who are fans of the original shows. Everyone's work on this is volunteer. However, we don’t feel right producing original projects without paying the people who help us out. The problem with that? Money’s tight. The two of us work in retail and freelance writing, so there isn’t a lot of extra money available to put into these projects. This would probably change once we get things going and are able to sell episodes on Audible, but getting started has been quite the challenge.

How Often Do We Post?

Currently, we’ve only been able to really get going on Supernatural, and that show releases every three weeks. Sometimes it may be a little longer if we experience technical difficulties or a voice actor vanishes without warning. That hasn't happened yet, though, so you can pretty much count on a consistent schedule. If we can fund the other projects, we’d like to be able to make a release every week, cycling through all of the shows.

How Can You Help?

Right now, we’re paying for everything out of our own pockets. This is getting difficult, so we’re asking our listeners to help us out financially to get off the ground. Every dollar you guys donate will go towards producing our shows and improving them. We can upgrade our podcast site to remove space and bandwidth limitations, and we can focus on getting other shows started. Eventually, maybe we can even upgrade our equipment and start producing high-quality videos.

Thank You!

If you don't want to donate every month and would rather purchase merch to support our projects, we're currently revamping our online store and will link it here once it's finished. Thanks!

We don't want to hold anything hostage just to get you guys to support us. So we've revamped our page so that you can donate any amount you feel our work is worth for however long you wish without losing your patron benefits.

Everyone who donates any amount will receive special mention and thanks on our list of patrons, to be posted across our various web pages. As a bonus, you'll also have access to new episodes - ad free - a full week before the general public.

Goals
$1 of $50 per month
Unfortunately, podcast hosting is not free. Right now the group founders are paying for this directly out-of-pocket, and it's getting to be a bit too much personal financial strain. To reach this goal means ensuring we can keep the bandwidth and storage space we currently have.
