Each video is loaded with tons of valuable content on how to hack your health to extend your healthspan. Each video or article I create usually takes me double-digit hours of background science research, writing, and/or filming & editing. If I reach this milestone, I will deliver, on average, one video per week, which will be pretty awesome.

About

I have Ph.D. in Biomedical Science and have done extensive research on aging, cancer, and nutrition. I video blog and write articles on topics ranging from how to hack your health and genes, to diet and aging, to vitamins and their effects. It is my goal to shift healthcare away from palliative treatment and toward a focus on prevention by disseminating information that enables people to increase their youthful years and prolong their longevity.

Here is a list of some of my publications:

  • Vitamin D and the Omega-3 Fatty Acids Control Serotonin Synthesis and Action, Part 2: Relevance for ADHD, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, and Impulsive Behavior. FASEB J.
  • Vitamin D Hormone Regulates Serotonin Synthesis. Part 1: Relevance for Autism FASEB J.
  • Requirement for Anti-Apoptotic MCL-1 in the Survival of BCR-ABL B-Lineage Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Blood
  • Delving Deeper: MCL-1′s Contribution to Normal and Cancer Biology Trends in Cell Biology
  • Anti-Apoptotic MCL-1 Localizes to the Mitochondrial Matrix and Couples Mitochondrial Fusion to Respiration Nature Cell Biology
  • Ubiquitin-Independent Degradation of Anti-Apoptotic MCL-1 Molecular and Cellular Biology

Science is continually illuminating and changing the way we understand human health. I work hard to provide context and a framework for interpreting what's going on. Our understanding of human health, biology, and all of these processes are evolving and changing all of the time -- I know how insanely frustrating it is each week to hear some news story that conflicts with everything you think you know about how to pursue health. “Should I stop taking omega-3 because now there's this study that says it causes prostate cancer…Should I stop taking my multi-vitamins because these guys say they're bad…”

That's why it's important to have people (like myself) that actively try to piece it all together.
Somebody that understands how to interpret data needs to answer these questions, but up until now a lot of this is just a side thing for me. I love translating science into the real-world. Through videos, articles, and literature reviews I break down all the latest breakthroughs in health, nutrition, aging, epigenetics, and neuroscience research to help myself and others hack their own genes to maximize performance and extend healthspan. This is my passion and I love sharing it with you!

This is why I've setup a crowdfunding campaign on Patreon to help guarantee that I can spend more time putting out creative works of one sort or another that answer these questions. Since launching my crowdfunding campaign...thanks to the support of my patreons...I’ve been able to accomplish a lot.

For example , I've made a bunch of videos on topics like how using the sauna may increase longevity and may improve other things like athletic performance, what the effects of supplemental antioxidants on cancer, how DHA in krill oil is used by brain, how diet and lifestyle influence aging and brain function, how to personalize your diet based on your genes, my various healthy recipes, and responses to headlines such as those claiming that cancer is just due to bad luck. I’ve been able to share with you guys podcasts where I interview top scientists, authors, CEOs and more.

Not only that, but along with each video I release I've also, in many cases, created in-depth articles with references that many of you have enjoyed from my email newsletter. I've been able to release iphone and android apps and am working on a new tool on the web site can now help you interpret some of your raw 23andMe data, allowing you to do things like better understand whether or not your genes may affect certain lifestyle factors.

So that's whats been done. Here's what I want to do now.

•In the next six to 12 months I want to try hard to reach around 100,000 subscribers or so (we're at around 15,000 right now).
•I want to dramatically increase creative output to get more information, interviews, and powerful tools to you.
•I would also square away the time to write a book.

That's what I want to do, and here's what I need in order to accomplish that.

I want to try to convince just 6% of my current subscriber base to consider pledging the amount of a latte, or around $5/month, to my crowdfunding campaign so that I can crush the next milestone I've setup, which is around $8,000/month. This should cover the costs of not only a substantial amount of my time and energy, but maybe even pay for a little bit of production help.

Sharing my videos and telling other people about them, subscribing to my channel, iTunes podcast, and newsletter are other ways you can help contribute, but... Patreon pledges are what will really put wind behind the sails of FoundMyFitness because it will help me pay for various forms of media hosting, and also allow me to dedicate more time directly to content creation. For this reason, pledges get a few special perks that go a step beyond what most subscribers get.

HERE'S WHAT YOU GET

$1/month - You get warm fuzzy feelings. This isn't much, but it's better than nothing! Instead of begrudging the higher pledge tiers for their goodies... just keep your eyes on the newsletter and pretend this wasn't something you could get for free anyway. (It's worth more than a $1, I promise!)

At $5/month you get...
  • You get your name on a special acknowledgment section on my website.
  • A day early release of my content. Get FoundMyFitness before everyone else!
  • I will try to give you the opportunity to vote on things like upcoming content when possible (like Q&A videos).

At $25/month you get...
  • A copy of my book "The Skinny on Omega-3 & Vitamin D". Note: if you're in the U.S. you get a physical copy!
  • You get immediate download to all of my digital reports and all future releases of digital reports including my reports on: coconut oil, sauna use, and more.
  • An opportunity to make suggestions on topics for my next video/podcast, blog, or literature review. Message me and I will try to make it happen!
  • An early release of my content by at least 24 hours. Get FoundMyFitness before everyone else!

$125/month
you get (amazement, for one! you're awesome)...

HERE'S SOME OF WHAT I DO
In this video I discuss the differences between krill oil and fish oil in terms of bioavailability and transport into different cells. I also explains how and why DHA and EPA from fish oil in ethyl ester form (molecularly distilled) has a lower bioavailability. Finally, I also explain differences in transport of DHA into the brain and why krill oil has a type of DHA (DHA in phosphatidylcholine) that is more readily transported into the brain because it forms DHA-lysophsophatidylcholine...

In this video I explain what antioxidants are, why they are important, and how they prevent DNA damage, a well-known cancer initiator, in order to minimize damage to DNA. However, in the very narrow context of someone that already has cancer, DNA damage can activate genes that kill cancer cells and can actually be a good thing.

The Vitamin D "Sweet Spot" and Its Relationship to Aging...

An explanation of a unique biological trade-off between longevity and some effects collectively referred to as "performance"...

A rebuttal to some of the anti-vitamin headlines making their rounds in December 2013...

* Your pledge supports FoundMyFitness -- not the medium! With that in mind, I use the word podcast in my milestones somewhat interchangeably to represent significant creative works. Should I happen to reach milestone 2... I will create four significant works of content (podcast, article, or otherwise) that generally represent the same sort of level of effort & timeliness regardless of the media format.
