Hi 👋 Saeid Halvaeian here, Founder of Freelance Creatives.

I'm a freelance graphic designer, and when I made the jump into freelancing full-time in 2013, I had no idea what I was getting myself into! I had lots of questions about taxes, invoicing, and clients. What I really wanted was to meet other designers face-to-face and learn from them. With that very selfish goal in mind, I started a Meetup group @ my favorite coffeeshop.

Six showed up to the very first event, and we each got to ask questions and share our unique perspectives, stores, and knowledge. It was amazing! Everyone walked away with new information, and I walked away thinking that I had to continue to host every month. No longer for my selfish reasons but for the other freelancers. Since March 2013, I haven't missed a month.

Today, the group is not just for graphic designers. We rebranded as Houston Freelance Creatives and now welcome all sorts of freelancers and creatives. I started a private Facebook Group to keep in touch between events. Between Meetup and Facebook members, we are 2,700 members strong, and interact daily.

I'm proud of that accomplishment. We have a vibrant community where freelancers meet and have rich conversations. But my dream is bigger...

In 2017, I started chapters in Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Nashville to connect freelancers through online community and in-person events. I thought to myself -- if we have this great community in Houston, why not other cities?

I've slowly stepped away from my graphic design business to focus more on Freelance Creatives. My passion is to connect freelancers and help them find gigs, improve their skills, and connect to their local communities.

I need your support, though. It takes time to engage with the groups online. It takes time to plan and run events. It takes time to organize wikis for the city organizers. It takes time to create graphics. It costs money for software and services like Mailchimp, Zapier, and Meetup.

If you believe in me and if you believe in helping freelancers connect online and in-person-- I'm searching for patrons to support me as I continue to build Freelance Creatives. Your support will help me expand to new cities, connect freelancers across the country, and improve what we offer to beyond just in-person events and online community.

Thank you for your consideration!

Best,
Saeid Halvaeian
