My name is Alice Taylor, and I am the Melbourne-based writer behind "Fuck It, I'm Not Cooking" - A Depression-Friendly Guide to Eating (and Living) A Little Bit Better.

While the blog is very light-hearted and the language is a little coarse, depression, and by extension mental illness and social disadvantage as a whole, has always been an important issue to me. I have struggled with depression and anxiety myself, and seen the effects it has had on my life and the lives of others around me.

It's hard to admit you're struggling. It's really fucking hard. And while you're struggling, it's really fucking hard to take care of yourself, physically and mentally. So this blog is a project in my own self-care and self-improvement, which I am sharing with the world, and hopefully helping others improve their own health alongside me.

For those donating to Patreon, please only donate if you are in a position to. I understand that the most part of my audience are struggling in their own lives, and I don't want to create barriers based on what you can and can't afford - hell, life creates enough barriers. So,while there will be rewards, exclusive content and greater input into the future of FIINC, you will get the same perks whether you donate $1 or $100.

Patreon donations will go directly to buying the equipment to start a Fuck It, I'm Not Cooking YouTube channel, and from there, the support you give to me will be invested right back into you. It'll cover the food and other associated production costs, and from there, you - the Patrons - will decide. If you want to meet me, it'll fund a tour. If you want profits donated to charities, then that's where the profits will go. If you want hard copies of the upcoming book, then your money will go into publication.

And if you have any other other suggestions, tweet me (@fuckcookingblog), email me ([email protected]), contact me via www.missmedland.com/contact, or let me know here on Patreon!

As ever, much love. And if you are struggling, please contact a local medical or psychological professional, or contact an online/telephone support line. If you don't know where to start, you can always simply see a GP - they are often a great starting point to get referrals to gain whatever support you need, whether you need counselling, therapy, or even social services and support groups. Don't tough it out on your own like I did for too long. You don't need to wait for a crisis for your struggles to be real, and warranting support. Getting help was far easier than I thought, and the best thing I ever did.

Goals
4 of 500 patrons
Well, 500 is unbelievable! At 500 patrons, I'm going to make a YouTube video to share your stories (with your explicit consent, and without identifying information) and mine, and explore the incredible journey of of Fuck It, I'm Not Cooking and its incredible community, from its explosive start in late 2017 to its return in 2018. Depression can be so isolating, so the best way to celebrate such a massive milestone is to celebrate all of us, and how far we've come.

There'll be some special little extras for patrons in there too: as we near 500, I'll put out a poll to find out how YOU want to celebrate.
