Milestone Goals
New Theme Song!
We’ll update our website and do much needed maintenance. John and Patrick will each
commit to writing 2 posts every month for the site to add more content. But wait, there’s
more! We’ll record a very special version of the Functional
Nerds theme song to include in every episode moving forward. That’s right, Patrick’s
gonna sing with John – who doesn’t want to hear that?!
Ad Free
How does a regular contributor to the website sound? Someone who is adding content
like book reviews, op eds and articles a couple times a month? In addition, the show itself
will go 100% ad free - we'll never run another paid ad.
Beer!
At this level, we’ll add a second show. You read that right – we’ll add a SECOND
SHOW. John Anealio & Rob Bedford (freelance writer for sffworld.com, sfsignal.com and tor.com) will launch The Fantasy Draught show as part of The Functional Nerds Podcast network. John & Rob are prolific consumers of sci-fi & fantasy literature and... wait for it, craft beer! This will be a bi-weekly podcast featuring author interviews and beer picks.
Third Show!
Can you say ‘third show’? We will launch a THIRD show called The Functional Nerds:
Extra Nerdy hosted by Patrick Hester and (co host to be named). Extra Nerdy will
focus on television, film, comics, technology, gadgets and the occasional video or role
playing game, pushing out 40-45 episodes every year. We’ll also add a third regular
contributor to the site.

The Functional Nerds is a weekly podcast by Hugo Award winning podcaster, author and
blogger Patrick Hester and Parsec Award nominated podcaster, musician and teacher John Anealio. We feature interviews with top genre authors, artists and editors, Picks of
the Week, and more.
We’ve done over 240 episodes since we began in 2010. We’re consistent, always looking for ways to be better at what we do and bring more of things we, as Functional Nerds, enjoy, to our fans.
With The Functional Nerds, we see a lot of potential to add content and shows, lacking only the funding to make it happen. Which is where you come in!
