Dr Michael Newton has a Ph.D. in Celtic Studies from the University of Edinburgh and is a recognized authority on the native traditions and literature of the Scottish Highlands and the Scottish Gaelic diaspora in North America.

For less than the cost of a dram of whisky, you can help support ground-breaking scholarship about the legacy of Scottish Highlanders in Scotland and in North America, and get access to these unique materials – work that is not being conducted in American universities because of the neglect of this field of inquiry:
  • History of the Scottish Highland diaspora in North America
  • Scottish Gaelic song-poetry and literature
  • Scottish Gaelic folklore, music and dance
  • Application of critical readings of colonialism, racialism, etc.
You can see a list of the projects that I’m doing that you can support on this webpage. I give talks and workshops, teach courses, do storytelling, and offer services as a consultant (see details here). I have also launched the Hidden Glen Folk School of Scottish Highland heritage (webpage here), which offers online courses.

You can see the list of essays that you can read for free on this webpage.
You can see the list of patron-only essays, arranged by topic, on this webpage.
The Hidden Glen podcast series is available on this webpage.
