"Game boldly" is a play on words from Luther's coined phrase, "sin boldly," which is often  misquoted and misinterpreted. The entire context of "sin boldly" comes from the following pericope:

God does not save people who are only fictitious sinners. Be a sinner and sin boldly, but believe and rejoice in Christ even more boldly [emphasis added], for He is victorious over sin, death, and the world. As long as we are here [in this world], we have to sin. This life is not the dwelling place of righteousness, but, as Peter says, we look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. It is enough that by the riches of God's glory we have come to know the Lamb that takes away the sin of the world. No sin will separate us from the Lamb, even though we commit fornication and murder a thousand times a day. Do you think that the purchase price that was paid for the redemption of our sins by so great a Lamb is too small? Pray boldly—you too are a mighty sinner. ("Letters I." Page 282 in vol. 48 of Luther's Works, American Edition. Edited by Gottfried G. Krodel and Helmut T. Lehmann. Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1963.)

In other words, you are a sinner; you cannot help but be a sinner. Therefore, sin boldly, but believe ever more boldly in the grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who freely forgives all your sins.

In the same way, as Christian gamers we come across much content in video games that conflict with our Christian faith. Instead of worrying so much about what you should or should not play, game boldly! Yet trust even more boldly in the grace of your Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, whose grace gives you the Christian freedom to enjoy the things of this earth, whether that be sports, video games, good whiskey and wine, or what-have-you.

Through the Game Boldly Podcast, future Lutheran pastor, Ricky Beckett, strives to encourage all Christian gamers to game boldly. The podcast covers  topics such as Christ figures in video games, utilising themes in video games as a Bible study, and certain issues that directly contradict our faith and confession such as religious plurality, sexuality, vengeance, etc.

Ricky Beckett is a seminarian at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri and current vicar at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Union, Missouri for the 2019-2020 year. After vicarage, he will return to Concordia Seminary for his final year of studies and upon graduation, will become an ordained Lutheran pastor at a church the Holy Spirit decides to call him.

Goals
$0 of $300 per month
My monthly goal of $300 is to cover production costs. This includes the microphone and headset, recording programs, affording carpeting and soundproof material to create the best recordings for you, as well as the time it takes to do the proper research for each episode and write them up. As a seminarian, vicar, and future pastor, time is a very valuable resource that I don't have a lot of. Most of my episodes are for free, and by becoming a patron, you are helping to support me and my family. As a patron, you will also receive access to premium episodes. These episodes are topics that aren't directly relevant to gaming but are directly relevant to you as a Christian whether or not you are a gamer.
