Putting the art into art nude... with your help.
About
I have been a photographer most of my life, and began working with models in 2006, quickly finding my niche with fine art nudes and erotica.
Black and white is my preference; it allows me to place more emphasis on forms, textures, and dynamic light.
It’s natural to contrast the strength, grace and beauty of the models with rough industrial and abandoned spaces. To me, the combination of the nude figure in demanding surroundings, captured in black and white, remains true to the traditions of the medium. I also work in color, or in a natural or studio setting, as various opportunities arise.
Of course, my models deserve lots of credit. I’m reminded of the old line about Ginger Rogers... they go everywhere I do, but barefoot and nude. They’re young and intrepid, and generally find the unusual challenges and physical demands of these types of shoots to be very rewarding.
My work has been included in various international books and magazines, including two anthologies released in 2013. My work has been included in exhibits around the US, Canada and France.

Hello, my name is Gary Mitchell. I'm a photographer based in Dayton, Ohio, specializing in art nudes. (Not Safe For Work Warning #2)

At art shows, perhaps the most common comment I hear is, "You sure have a tough job, taking photos of beautiful women all the time!" and the second most common is "is this what you do for a living?" While it is great working with the models, I don't even approach making a living doing this.
As you might guess, there are substantial costs associated with photography. Cameras, lenses, lights, and other equipment. Studio rental, travel costs, location fees, etc. Computer equipment, software, education, website expenses. Not to mention making prints, mounting, framing, shipping to art shows, and dozens of other expenses large and small.
Since 2006, I have been using the "starving artist" business model, where the primary source of income to support my artistic pursuits is from the sale of finished work -- I don't want charge people to take their picture. At this point, income from print sales and publication fees cover only a small percentage of my expenses, the rest of which I pay from my own pocket.
I'm hoping to find a realistic way to change this model while maintaining the integrity of my work. And I think Patreon may be one answer.
There are numerous people who follow my photography, and purchase prints, and I like the idea of giving them an easy and affordable way to support my work as a "Patron" on a regular basis, with visible and tangible rewards for their generosity.
Please review the "Patronage" options below. If you can think of a different manner in which to show your support, please let me know, and I'll consider it as an option.
Images provided to patrons will usually contain artistic nudity -- please only sign up if you enjoy viewing these types of images, and are of legal age and jurisdiction to do so. Thank you!
