Geek Native is a blog for tabletop gamers and the #ttrpg curious. The site was founded long before D&D 5 (or even D&D 3), before Critical Role, Twitch and playing board games on YouTube live streams. The goal? To attract new blood into the hobby by showing that gamers care about more than just their level 12 Paladin.

As a result, Geek Native covers technology news, reviews books, comics and anime, the site shares movie trailers and posts a whole heap of art.

Yeah, it turns out Geek Native wasn't the saviour of the hobby. Of course not. This fantastic hobby saved itself. All the internet had to do was show charismatic people having fun and, quite rightly, people thought "I want some of that!" Now we're enjoying a lovely gaming boom.

Why Patreon? Geek Native's content is free and always will be, supported by ads. No one has to pay to read the blog. However, the site makes a loss and a growing number of people prefer a subscription model to show support and use ad blockers.

Patreon money is put back into the site in the same way that the ad money is. This feels equal and fair. You can see details of some of the more 'impressive' things we can do together with enough patrons in the goals section, and if you've ideas for other projects please get in touch.

The header banner for this page is provided by Shades of Vengeance. It shows the worlds of the horror RPG Era: The Chosen which you can preview at Geek Native.

Geek Magistrate

Goals
$0 of $10 per month
DriveThruRPG Gift Voucher

There are hundreds of publishers on DriveThruRPG who would benefit from more publicity and who sell RPGs worth owning.

Once we unlock this goal then, each month, Geek Native will shine the spotlight on a publisher and run a US$10 giveaway of DriveThruRPG vouchers. The winner can spend that money where they like at DTRPG, no strings attached, and maybe they'll spend it with the featured publisher.
