I'm a film director, writer and producer above all else.

Side Effects
As a result of a life spent pursuing the enlightenment of my inner creative and alter ego, I've heard and faced it all.  I've sat in conference rooms while being told to let the "business people" handle the business so I could focus solely on the creative.  I've been on sets where those same "business people" tried to control via committee.  I've faced rumors and assumptions based solely on my lineage and been told time and time again by people both close and not-so-close to me that I just didn't understand the business of the business.

The development of my inner creative has been a journey, to say the least; and one that I would not trade a single step in exchange for any rapid advancement or other promises.

As a result of a lifetime of being told that I couldn't do things about which I've dreamt, I dedicated a large portion of my journey to the betterment of my own inner businessman in lock-step with the pursuit of my inner creative's enlightenment.  I've spent time traveling this beautiful country on the backs of vehicles ranging from freight trains to airplanes and everything in between; worked every shitty job a human can work and breathed the rarified air of a man who founded and successfully ran Western Pennsylvania's first and only commercial and film production studio in history, developing creative campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, producing and directing more than 125 commercials for global markets, writing business and marketing plans for companies ranging from tech startups to independent studios and even the odd bio-tech company with a lot of success and I've produced and/or directed almost 25 films to date with many more in the works.

The Rant
Quite simply put, I've amassed a lifetime of knowledge about the entertainment industry, the steps necessary to produce an idea from a simple thought to a piece of intellectual property with tremendous value to potential investors, the friends and colleagues in the industry to achieve every aspect of production from script-to-screen and have worked with every camera and editing system to have been introduced since I edited my first feature at the age of 18 on an old Steenbeck (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steenbeck).

I spent years learning the craft of screenwriting only to have met my mentor, Warren Lewis, who told me to stop overthinking it and focus on writing well because I would eventually write fast.  Since then and after years of calling him my mentor and friend, I can now turn out a screenplay in less than a month.

I've spent some amazing time with my personal hero of cinematography, Mr. Shane Hurlbut A.S.C. and every time I've been lucky enough to get even 15 minutes of his time, I've amassed volumes of knowledge that has taken my lifetime of camera operation and cinematography to a whole new level.

I've had the privilege of working with some of the most amazing actors working in the industry today and, as a result, have learned to work with talent in ways that can't be taught in any film school, in my opinion.

What's It All Been About?
Easy.  Knowledge.

What is Knowledge...
...if you can't pass it along.

I Create So That I Can Breathe.
Without the ability to create... to get it out of my head... to get it out of my heart... the volume is just too damn loud.  This page is about what I create for these purposes.

I Mentor So That I Can Live With Myself.
Without the ability to pass along what I've learned about how this business works, how to create for the business, how to work within the changing parameters of the business, how to prepare and pitch my content and ultimately how to produce, direct and deliver what I promise to myself and to my investors, amassing knowledge has little to no point.

This page is also about my willingness to pass this knowledge along.

Organization to the Madness
I receive anywhere from 15-35 script, story and synopsis pitches per week.  I receive as many, if not more, messages across social media asking for help and guidance.  Up until recently, I've dedicated a lot of time to trying to answer and help as many people as I can and I've received a lot of thank you letters.  Sadly, without forsaking my own projects, love, family and business 100% and dedicating my time solely to helping people because I have a passion for helping those who truly show a passion for this world, there are some folks and requests that have either slipped through the cracks or that I have simply not been able to address.

This is a large reason I've decided to channel all of those requests through a Patreon effort.

The truth is that I really do wish I could help everyone who asks.  The harder truth is that I can't... at least not while still having to earn a living to keep the lights on and milk in the refrigerator.  That's why I've decided to centralize those efforts along with my own private blog and private access to projects I'm either currently working on or working to develop.  There is a bigger picture for my life goals and my hope is that by centralizing my efforts through Patreon that I can not only help as many people as I can handle at once or one-on-one, but also that I can earn enough money on a regular basis to pursue the larger picture.

I hope you have read this far and if you haven't, I hope you at least watched my video all the way through and if you have done one, either or both of these things, I hope you understand the true sincerity with which I'm pursuing this and take the time to scroll through the different subscription rewards I'm offering and get on board.

IMPORTANT TERMS FOR PATRONS
Non-Disclosure Agreement For All Documents Shared with Patrons.
It's important for me to put this here as I truly hope all who choose to become patrons of mine will see the value in the tiers for which they are paying good money to enjoy.  Therefore, I'd like it to be known that all patrons will fall under a mutually agreed upon and understood Non-Disclosure Agreement with me upon pledging their commitment to a tier.  I will be sharing a lot of information with you all through this endeavor and I am sure that you would not necessarily want to provide a lot of that information to folks who are unwilling to make the same commitment you all are, have and continue to make as part of this quest.  In the event that any information is disseminated to non-patrons of this guided quest, I will reserve the right to terminate  your ongoing commitment and make available your slot to another who will see the value in what we are all trying to accomplish with this Patreon endeavor.  Additionally, in the event that highly sensitive information is to be sent privately to any member of any tier of this endeavor, I reserve the right to present you, individually, with a much more detailed and mutual non-disclosure agreement.

Tiers
The Readers
$3 or more per month 2 patrons
The Readers will have access to my exclusive, Patron-Only blog which will be dedicated to an unabashed, straight-shooting glimpse into my take on the industry and just what it takes to work as a creative in a business-driven creative world, how to tool your creative to fit within the targets of the industry and my take on the kinds of things that we creatives need to do to breathe life into our ideas and begin the path to creating value from our concepts.

I will post at least once per week.

Listen to the Madness - Romero's Podcast
$10 or more per month 0 patrons
This reward is designed for one thing and one thing only; to generate the startup costs to secure a solid hosting platform and to cover the costs necessary to bring the podcast to life.

This is one of those things that I'm really excited to get off the ground in 2018.  We will discuss all things horror, all things related to my upcoming projects like "Rise of the Living Dead," for example, and all things filmmaking related spanning from no-budget to commercializing your ideas.

Guests will include everyone from financiers to producers, composers, f/x artists, marketing experts and most importantly, every episode will include one guest picked at random from my social network.  YES!  That includes you patrons.

Respect the Process
$15 or more per month 0 of 40 patrons
Every creative has their own process for creation.  Sadly, one of the most common pitfalls every creative must overcome at one stage or another of their creative lifespan is to learn to Respect the Process; truly respect it.

The act of forcing creative is the leading cause of everything from writer's block to dissatisfaction with products at the final stages.

However, by learning to respect the process the same way anyone who has ever undergone a gun safety training program is taught to respect the firearm they are holding, one's creative process is, quite literally, the most powerful tool in the arsenal.

For many, learning to identify their own process can be a daunting task with, arguably, no one, true answer or definition.  That's why this tier is dedicated to the creative's quest to locate, identify, embrace and ultimately trust their own process.

For those interested in this ongoing tier:

I will make my Patron-Only blog available to this tier.

I will provide access to my private deep social network.

I will make available my own beat sheets.

I will make available my own outlines.

I will make available my own "inspirato."

I will offer group sessions.

I will share my storyboards.

I will share "vomit drafts" of scenes and acts.

I will share my own process in detail.

I will offer guided journeys via videos.

I will NOT tell you what your process should be.

I will NOT let you hide behind excuses.

I will NOT tell you it's ok to procrastinate.

I'm limiting this tier to a higher number than the rest of the tiers because I believe larger groups have a better shot at helping each other as a community and the philosophical nature of this tier is much better served with a larger audience than one-on-one.

The Short Notes
$25 or more per month 0 of 10 patrons
Patrons of The Short Notes will have direct access to my personal attention with regard to helping develop your own ideas into viable outlines to turn those projects into larger visions.  These ideas may be presented as a simple paragraph, a logline or even a clear thought presented in a single sentence.  I will help you turn it into a roadmap for a bigger vision.

To be clear...

I will not be doing this work for you.

I will not be writing this stuff for you.

I will be reviewing your work.

I will be offering professional notes.

I will make my Patron-Only blog available to this tier.
I will provide access to my private deep social network.

I will be guiding you toward resources to learn more.

I will be offering you one-on-one consulting sessions.

I will be offering group sessions for all patrons of this tier.

I will be reviewing up to three revisions per month per patron.

I can only accept a limited number at this tier for the simple reason that this stuff can take some time based on a lot of factors ranging from experience to cohesiveness and in the interest of wanting to actually dedicate myself to those who take on this tier, I want to insure that you all get the best of me, so to start out, I'm only going to take on a few of these.  If all goes smoothly I may raise the maximum enrollment if it won't interfere with the quality of attention I'm able to offer.

The Pitch
$50 or more per month 0 of 15 patrons
In my opinion, this is one of the more exciting times of any project.  It's a time when your idea is solid and you're ready to present it to an industry of your now and future peers.  While it is exciting, it also extremely nerve-grating and can often lead to sleepless, anxiety-fueled nights filled with thoughts of "what if" and "why haven't I heard back?"  Patrons of The Pitch can rest assured that while I can not answer those questions that take over the night, I can and will do my very best to make sure that you send your ideas out there with their absolute best foot forward.

A lot of times, projects can be ready to pitch before a script is completely finished.  In fact, as a creative, sometimes building a pitch can add the necessary fuel to the fire in terms of kicking us in the ass to actually get the bigger picture closer to being done (not finished... any creative will tell you that it's never finished).

I will work with patrons of this idea to coach you through the steps necessary to take your ideas (up to 3 per month per patron) to the next level by developing competitive presentations full of relevant data, comparables and information flow that falls in line with what working professionals in the industry are looking for whether the intended pitch recipient is in the business of episodic, feature narrative, feature documentary or streaming content.

I will offer one-on-one sessions.

I will offer group sessions for all patrons in this tier.

I will share my own resources with you.

I will share examples of pitches that have worked for me.

I will  offer feedback on your own pitches and decks.

I will make my Patron-Only blog available to this tier.
I will provide access to my private deep social network.

Again, I'm limiting the number or patrons for this tier to see how it goes.  If I have the time to truly dedicate to more than this, I will add more slots.

The Writers' Gild
$100 or more per month 0 of 12 patrons
So this tier is pretty cool.  The Writers' Gild is dedicated to those of you who have completed a script for either a pilot or a feature film.  I will read your script, offer detailed notes and give you one-on-one sessions twice a month regarding your script.

I will make my Patron-Only blog available to this tier.
I will provide access to my private deep social network.

I will help you develop your characters.

I will help you polish your dialogue.

I will help you refine your story.

I will help you get to the next draft of your screenplay.

I will make available my own beat sheets.

I will make available my own outlines.

I will make available my own "inspirato."

I will offer one-on-one sessions.

I will offer group sessions.

I will offer pitch feedback.

I will offer examples of pitch letters that have worked for me.

I'm limiting this tier as well as there is only so much time in the day and so much time in the month so to make sure I can dedicate the appropriate amount of time to everyone in this tier, I can't have open-ended registration for this tier.

Goals
$7 of $3,000 per month
Radio-Free Romero
While the podcast will launch before I reach this goal, this is the number I need to hit consistently to make sure I can keep it going with the proper guests, production value and covered expenses.  I am not looking to do a podcast that just repeats the same boring shit or that doesn't bring true value to you, the listeners.  I'm looking to do something that will provide actual and true value to my listeners.  Something that can be considered an actual resource for those looking to learn about the inside track of how this crazy business works.
