Hi! My name is Xandir. I'm a 23 year old genderqueer weirdo living in Oakland, California. I've struggled for the past several years to make ends meet and be financially stable and because of that my art and writing projects have taken a back seat to just being able to survive. I have really had to hustle. I'd love to be able to focus more of my time and effort onto making zines, games, and other neat artsy stuff and less time worrying about where my next meal is going to come from.
So what kind of things can you expect from my work? I make both fiction and non-fiction works. Some of what I do is very personal and somewhat confessional, talking about mental health, chronic pain, surviving various forms of abuse, love and relationships, stuff like that. Other stuff I do is whimisical, silly, sexy, and weird, stuff about magic, highschool crushes, and mythical creatures. Some of my other work is political, talking about sex workers rights, fat positivity, trans bodies, privilege, and other social justice issues. If you want to get an idea of what kinds of stuff I'll be talking about, or you just want to say hi, check out my twitter.
Things I've done, am working on, and plan on making
In 2011 a story I wrote on my facebook about a lockdown facility in Utah was reposted to Reddit where it went viral.
I was interviewed about this for Violet Blue's Tiny Nibbles and told my story at Bawdy Storytelling. You can read more of my writing about the two and half years I spent this facility and the effects it's had on me here.
More recently I made a fun, silly, fictional choose your-own-adventure game that you can play for free called Teenage Gaywad. I also made a text game about living with chronic illness called Fibromyalgia Simulator. I just finished a game about queer disabled witches called CEREMONY with art by Solomon Fletcher.
I'm currently in the process of making a Twine called I Hope There's Pizza In Heaven. This game is about my recently deceased cat Booger, and will feature music by Black Squares and art by me and the lovely Miss Anna Anthropy.
I'm also working on a few different zines right now including: Eternal Teen Zine 1, the first in a series of zines about reclaiming teenhood as an adult as a form of healing from child abuse and opression.
Some zines and games I plan on making in the future: part two of Eternal Teen Zeen with collaborations and submissions from other writers and artists, at least one zine about fat positivity in relation to sexuality, games and zines about magic and witchery, zines about the adult industry, and what ever else I can think of.
I plan to produce at least one project per month and I am suuuuuper open to suggestions in terms of what kind of content and art you would like to see from me.
