Milestone Goals
Adobe Creative Cloud subscription covered!
$50 per month
I grew up on Adobe's suite of software (Photoshop and Premiere); $50 a month covers my subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud to make sure I can keep up video quality with access to Premiere, Photoshop, Audition, After Effects, etc...
Live Q & A!
$150 per month
If I can raise $150, that's enough to get me a decent hotel room and some time to do some serious editing -- and if that happens, then let's do a celebratory Q & A video once a month! You bring your questions, I'll bring my notebook and coffee, and we can chat!
Gear Upgrade!
$500 per month
I bought a Canon T3i as an upgrade from my GoPro, but if we end up at $500 a month I can start investing in some new sound equipment and lenses and batteries for my camera!
Patron's Choice!
$1,000 per month
If we somehow make it to $1000/month, I'll solicit ideas from all of my patrons, let them vote on it, and then (if what they come up with is feasible) make it happen.

About

I'm Peter! I curate Go Verb a Noun, a series of interviews with some of YouTube's best educators. It's really fun.

I'm of the opinion that everyone -- no matter the color of their skin or their national origin or socioeconomic status or any other thing -- deserves the opportunity to learn. I also think that education is the single biggest thing that can help make this happen.  So, I figured I'd take some of those fancy skills I got in the Navy as a language and intelligence analyst and use them to help folks get smart. Now, I'm doing my own small part to make that happen.

Here's what's up: I'm currently researching how we can use the Internet to bring quality educational materials to folks who are otherwise under-served -- culturally, politically, technologically, etc... I'll be using this research to help tailor my graduate education in (probably but maybe not) Data Science, starting Fall 2015.

I'm traveling around North America and Europe, interviewing folks who care just as passionately as I do (or, shoot, maybe even more) about everyone getting the education they deserve -- so that I can figure out how I can help them the most when I go get that fancy graduate education. I then take these interviews, clean them up, and put them on YouTube under a Creative Commons license because information shared is information that can be put to good use.

My graduate education is going to be mostly free because I was in the Navy, and so I want to maximize the HECK out of it and get the biggest return on (taxpayers') investment possible. Going into grad school with a solid foundational understanding of the online education environment helps enable that.

Your support helps make sure I can put out the best videos I can -- either through upgrading from a GoPro to a legit DSLR, helping recoup the cost of my subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud, or through just spending a day and night in a hotel with decent internet, editing for hours at a time with a cup of coffee by my side.
