About

After five years of blogging as Godless Mom, I'm just about ready to finish up writing my very first book. I've got about 50,000 words of a very rough draft going.

The book is going to fill a void in the atheist community: storytelling. We're really good at analyzing data. We're exceptional at breaking things down logically, but where we don't often excel is at relating to people on a human level. At least, not in our literature, anyway. Don't get me wrong, there are exceptions to this rule, like my lovely friend LogosPilgrim, but for the most part, atheist books are clinical and logical. Of course, we need those sorts of books because, let's face it, it's logic and reason that defeats religious thinking, but I do think we could use a little storytelling.

Religious leaders do it well. If you have ever attended church, you know that a good sermon weaves scripture in with modern-day human stories and there's good reason for this: people can relate to it. If you try to connect with people on an emotional level, you likely will.

With that said, I'm not looking to convert anyone with this book, but rather, teach them that atheists are nothing to fear. There's no reason to distrust us as a group. We are not a threat and sometimes, if you give us a few chapters, you might even end up liking us.

I want to finish this book and get it out there and to that end, I am offering to give digital copies of the book to all my patrons above the $10 tier when I am finished it. Whether I self-publish or not. So, be my patron and be the first in line to own my long-awaited book.
