The Got A Ukulele website has, for some time, been one of the most popular sources on the Internet for impartial advice and reviews for ukulele beginners.

One thing people wrongly assume though is that I get paid to write the site - I don't. The majority of the instruments I review are provided on loan only and I dont charge brands anything to write about them. The only income the site generates is a small amount of Google advertising revenue, but believe me - it doesn't pay the bills. I also want to ensure that the  loan reviews are mixed with non loan instruments - that keeps things balanced and more impartial - but that takes funds. And I am NOT buying them to create a mammoth ukulele collection for myself - I simply don't have the space! Once they are reviewed they are donated to local schools and charities, or sold to fund more ukes (which eventually end up being donated to the same places) The whole thing becomes self sufficient and the local community get gifted ukes. So for there to be more reviews, more have to be acquired!

I WOULD like to keep the website going but have to justify it. I'd like to get hold of more gear to review, but I can't do that on my own (or at least without losing my marriage!).  Think of dontations as a means to keep the site going, but eventually your funds end up with a charity or schoolkids to help people start enjoying the ukulele. Alternatively of course, you might just want to donate to say thank you. Of course that is hugely appreciated too.

And no - I am not doing 'Patron only content' - I find that creates and 'us and them' thing with readers. I said when I started that Got A Ukulele content will always be free for ALL readers, so this would go against that. Donations are purely a 'thank you'.

For whatever reason you assist, my thanks to you.

Donations help keep the site going in part, but are also a very nice way to say thanks for the work already created and available for all to read. All donations go back into the site, mainly to get gear to review, which are then subsequently donated to charity or local school.

The goals on this Patreon are not about giving supporters something that they feel they have to pay for to get a special 'tier' - Got a Ukulele will NEVER be a two tier website with extras for those with money. I hate that and it just isn't what the site is about. Free to all. If those that have the funds can help to support it for the majority, then that's a wonderful thing and much appreciated.
