Hello! If you're reading this, chances are you know me as Granny (or Kathy) from my Granny's Vital Vittles website.

What I do:
I'm a traditional food blogger. What does that mean exactly? I'm an advocate for cooking from scratch everyday just like your Grandma did. I wrote my first book in 2014 called The Granny Plan, which is a baby step plan to building the habits that will support you in getting a good meal on the table each and every day. It's been downloaded over 10,000 times on Amazon, and so many have written to let me know how it's helped them in building good kitchen habits.

On Granny's Vital Vittles I share what I've learned about traditional diet and nutrition, recipes, advice and encouragement to keep up the good fight and cook something every day. Granny has had nearly 3/4 of a million visits since it came online in late 2012.

Until recently this was all achieved during my spare time, such as it was with a full-time job, a long commute, a family to cook for, an elderly mother to care for, and a career transition to boot!  I had to let the site go into vacation mode for a couple of years from sheer exhaustion, as you might imagine ... just didn't have the energy to keep all the plates spinning. Now I'm in a position to be able to devote my full time efforts to advocating for traditional food and home cooking by writing articles, books, workbooks and coaching. I hope that thru my Patreon supporters, I will be able to continue to focus entirely on encouraging Moms to cook real food from scratch daily.

I LOVE a chance to go out and meet with people in their homes and help them to get organized, whether it's to cook more or just get a handle on their house. Not infrequently I can be found in clients homes in the Austin area, sorting thru stuff and in general helping to get things in order. I learn so much from everyone I help ... it really helps inform my writing to see what people are doing that works and doesn't work in their own homes. I'm a professional organizer.

What I plan to do:
I now intend devote my full time efforts to advocating for traditional real food daily cooking for Moms specifically. Supporting Moms with what they need to nourish their families and themselves thru education and supportive community is my commitment. You might ask, then why Patreon?  While I have a window of time as of this writing to devote full time, it's by no means assured ...  a small token of your appreciation thru Patreon goes a long way to keeping me in front of my laptop writing and sharing advice, developing recipes and creating miscellaneous tools to support the Granny community.

Visiting most blogs you'll notice that they support themselves either thru tons of ads, making the site hard to read and explore, or they get involved in a project to sell something thru multi-level marketing like essential oils, skin care, supplements, etc.  I don't want to take Granny's Vital Vittles in that direction ... I want to keep it readable, popup free, and without sales pitches that seem to inject themselves into most posts after awhile.

In short I plan to:
  • Provide advice to those who request help from me through my Facebook group, Granny's Ladies Circle.
  • Provide direct coaching to people who need intensive help to get things going.
  • Publish more books and cookbooks to support the Granny community.
  • Spread the word outside of the Granny community about traditional food and it's vital importance to the health of our children.
  • Produce more worksheets, workbooks and printables to support Moms in the day to day business of fitting shopping and cooking into an already full schedule.

How Patreon works:
Patreon is typically used as a way for an artist/writers/musician's fanbase to gain support from their supporters. This allows them to worry less about where their next meal is coming from, and focus more on actually doing the job they love. Pledges are made using the right-hand column, in exchange for a variety of rewards and perks!

I'd like to express my appreciation for all the support I've had from all the Friends of Granny's Vital Vittles. Thank you so very much for all the kind words, comments, reviews over that past few years! You guys are awesome!

Thanks again,

Kathy Block
