About Green Heffa Farms

Hi, my name is Clarenda but my friends call me Cee. In the hemp farming world, I am known as Farmer Cee (get it? Farmer Cee? Pharmacy?). In 2017,  I started Green Heffa Farms, a boutique hemp farm in North Carolina, with my then husband. Almost immediately, we became media darlings.  Being some of the first black farmers to venture into this budding industry, we were the faces of the groundbreaking AP article on the 2018 Farm Bill, which put as on the cover of thousands of newspapers across the country. We were featured in the Washington Post, requested to speak at major conferences, and had sold out workshops. I was selected as the 2019 Featured Farmer for Hemp History Week, the largest national media campaign for hemp's federal legalization. This was the first time a black farmer had been selected - and being a black woman, it was especially impactful. We spoke out on racial inequities in the industry, created our "Leveling the Planting Field" platform and Big Hemping E-course and restructured our farm to focus on four social equity principles: Economic Empowerment, Equity, Environment, and Education. By all appearances, we were the power couple and embodied #blacklove. But behind closed doors, all was not well in our marriage and our time in the limelight did not help. This year, after six years of marriage and fifteen years of an on again off again relationship, we split for the final time. And I was left to continue Green Heffa Farms on my own. WTF.

I had to shift from someone else's dream to my own. What do I want to create on this beautiful piece of land? I decided to continue growing hemp but to shift to true organic farming and seek certification. I also decided to diversify crops to include medicinal herbs. A lover of thrifting and upcycling, I love interior design and believe in environmental stewardship so added several tiny homes to the dream to create an eco-friendly retreat center and learning lab to teach others how to grow organically in the most sustainable way possible. To date, this has been a bootstrap operation primarily funded by yours truly.  I am creating this Patreon account to help support those efforts and to share a more in-depth, behind the scenes view as I create this healing hempire.  Monies will be used to purchase needed equipment, make infrastructure improvements, and to continue producing quality content.

Thank you for joining me on this journey of building Green Heffa Farms. I appreciate you for believing in the dream.
