The Grief Dreams Podcast is a show that talks with guests about their life, loss, and grief dreams (especially those of their deceased loved ones).

This podcast helps to normalize the grief journey in a world that has kept conversation on the topic suppressed. The show started with Shawn Ram and Dr. Joshua Black wanting to start a podcast that discussed a person's journey through life. We decided to focus part of the show on loss, because that aspect of people’s lives are often kept hidden and avoided in everyday conversation. Joshua has focused all of his graduate research in psychology (MA and PhD) on understanding the topic of grief dreams (specifically, dreams of the deceased). It may be surprising, but there has been very little academic research on the topic, which means those working with the bereaved have had little training (if any) on the topic. The bereaved are left to their own devices to try and understand these experiences, which can cause difficulties in their healing. Since the podcast is about normalizing the grief journey, it was ideal to have grief dreams as a focus of the show. The hope being, to correct misinformation on the topic and to normalize the experiences the bereaved may have. This is the first podcast to focus on grief dreams in each episode, and one of the few that focus on the grief journey. From time to time, Jade Karling Black fills in as a guest host on the show.

If you would like to help support our cause and bring the topic of dreams following loss out in to the open, we would be truly grateful. To find out more information about grief dreams and the podcast, please go to griefdreams.ca.

In the hopes of keeping this podcast commercial free, we are asking for your help to sustain us. We will use the money to recoup costs of the podcast, increase our episodes to 3 a week, and generate greater public awareness on the topic as a whole (e.g., by giving free resources to bereaved organizations on the topic).

If you are new to Patreon, it works by giving you the opportunity to donate per month (the beginning of each month). We have set values that can give you perks with the specific donation amount. You can cancel your support at anytime.
